Giolito certainly looks great, but the rest of it is only getting more uncertain. Robert, Moncada and Kopech have bust potential through the roof.

You say that with zero recognition that absolute star potential is through the roof as well on all three of the them. I have always taken the position that prospects are suspects but you cannot state worse case without acknowledging best case

I know that is your guy. I promise you he has seen Robert live the exact same amount of times I have.

Exactly. So how can he rank if no one has ever seen him?

As much as you would like to believe it, "KLaw" is not baseball Jesus. Might be best to use more than one source to form your opinion.

This was released yesterday; https://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/ ... ects-2018/

Five White Sox players are on that list. Of those, four are in the top 60.

The bust rate is probably 40-50% on stud prospects. That is why volume is the only approach. Betweeen the three you probably end up with a stud, a starter and a flame out.

Moncada won't be a bust. range is from solid starter to MVP.

Audio of a fan graphs blogger discussing seeing burger, Moncada and Roberts. Thought some may enjoy comments from a person actually having seen some of these guys. I did not partake. Enjoy.

Moncada is already starter. I don't mean that he holds a starting position but even with underwhelming stats he was MLB 2B starter level.

but some are treating him not being in Law's top 100 as an indictment. It is more in line with an n/a with an asterisk to look back at mid season

Considering they had acquired him with MLB experience and as the number 1 prospect in baseball, him not being a starter would be difficult. Catastrophic injury would be the only thing stopping him from that. By starter I meant something like a Joe Crede, a guy that will be around 7-9 years may peak as an all star but not something to build around.

He did end up ranking him. He’s 46. He said he wasn’t going to rank Ohtani or Robert but must have changed his mind. All is right in the world.

FutureSox put together a really fantastic top 30 that includes a lot of names you may not know now, but some of whom will be playing in Chicago sooner than even guys like Jimenez or (maybe) Kopech.

Thyago Viera, Ian Hamilton, AJ Puckett, Aaron Bummer (most know him though)...these are guys the Sox expect to be leaning on a lot. Soria is a temporary measure until Burdi is healthy.

Kopech's line today 6ip 1h 1er 2bb 8k

I don't think he is going to learn much more stuck at Charlotte. Interesting side note if he makes his debut 5/6 vs. Twins, he'd be lined up to face the Cubs in Wrigley the next weekend.

I assume there is a lot to learn about pitching that even the advanced fan does not think about.

Like when can he be called up and not be a Super 2.

I would say right now Rutherford has vaulted past everyone except Eloy and maybe Kopech.

I don't think they will call him up this year at all as they will be shutting him down in September when he reaches an innings cap for the year. Once he gets up above 150 ip in a year and they can project him to 30 starts in a year they will bring him up. I expect May of next year.

He's too far ahead of Triple A hitters to leave down there much longer without the risk of stunting his development. Let him learn and take his lumps in the bigs.

Rutherford is not getting the ball in the air enough which concerns me.

At the moment I'd go something like this

1. Jimenez
2. Kopech
3. Robert
4. Cease
5. Dunning
6. Adolfo
7. Basabe
8. Colllins
9. Rutherford
10. Hansen

I think Hansen is still hurt, otherwise I would have him ahead of Cease. Not sure if Collins belongs on this list at all.

Hansen must be really fucked up. He isn't even throwing yet. Prolly just waiting to confirm TJS.

Adolfo, Basabe, and Rutherford seem to be developing nicely. If it continues, these 3 should all shoot up to the upper half of Top 100 prospects. With Robert coming back soon, they need to promote one or 2 of those guys, not enough room for them all. Zavala is blowing past Collins. Hansen is concerning.
