We already spent all our money on WR. Can't afford more.

Yup. Can't exceed WR salary cap or will lose draft picks

He's about 3 years away from signing with the White Sox.

As a Cowboys fan , you do not want this guy. He is a QB killer, and can not run a route to save his life.

Here is what I'll try explain to you Seachest... so read slowly please.

The Bears had already spent more than 28 other teams in the league on WR's before the Bryant hit the market today.

Positions and their respective costs are slotted in the NFL.

They have a number they could live with and that doesn't include Bryant.

They still have 24 million in cap space. What are they planning on using it for? It's not like the FA market is still full of options.

I don't think Dez will age well. I think he will be the last one to know his skills have slipped and he will continue being as demanding as he was when he was All Pro

I am. Though, not sure if Seacrest knows NFL teams can allocate their salary cap dollars to the 22 positions as they see fit.

As I understand it, there is an enforced "Hard cap" at every single position in the NFL.

If Dez wants to come to the Bears on a 1 year, incentive laden deal for about $2million base, then yes, I want him.

Anything more than that, Nope.

Of course I do. And each team allots them differently.

Like when the Packers tossed millions of cap dollars at an obviously washed up Martellus Bennett last year.

Key phrase.

However, they still are more in need of some help on the line for both sides of the ball.

Also, they threw a number at Meredith that they felt they could live with. Because if Goldman and Amos continue to play very well, they will want to use cap space on hand to lock up both of them going forward as well.

Keep trying Bob.

And I don't believe that the Bears would want Dez in their locker room.

I've always hated the fact that the first thing I think about with him was his being grilled in pretty draft interviews about whether or not his mother was a prostitute or lesbian.

I lost respect for the NFL that year.

So people think it is OK for Bryant to play with the Cubs, but when it comes to the Bears, they are like no way. I would take him, but I wouldn't pay much.

the lockeroom presense and on field leadership would be amazing for a team that doesnt need it

In 2016, Bryant went AWOL after he hurt his knee and thought he might be done for the season. Late last season, he said he was bothered by tendinitis but did not get treatment.
