You allude to something I've been feeling for a while: 25 hours a week is too much of anyone. I don't know why Mitch is so married to a 1-6 afternoon show -- it really sets people up to fail.

Kinda confirms what we all suspected, that the Score basically put him on assignment in Atlanta to prepare for replacing Terry.

Uh maybe I missed something but I don't remember that being a widely voiced suspicion at all here. If anything his move there was treated as validation for the idea that he simply wasn't good enough for Chicago.

Goff and drinky were a fun and enjoyable listen. He addressed all the issues he wanted during that show as well.

As I have repeatedly said, the issue is tone and not content.

Get that drinky and Goff vibe back of harassing grandmothers and his career would flourish.

The old time slots were perfect.

5 hour morning shift from 5-10am

Then you are in to your main daytime 4 hour shifts.

10-2
2-6

You had your 2 signature shows and everyone else.

Agree with ya on that, 3 hours is plenty of any host.

If North had such shitty ratings, why did they pay him 1.5 million per year?

I never thought he was going to Atlanta permanently-permanently. I don't think I was alone in that here. Jason was a pet project, that's why they went the extra mile to re-hire him after CBS fired him (that and Mitch's dumbshit Patrick Mannelly hire failed like everyone knew it would).

I've rarely heard of a more bitched about relocation place. The weather is ok in the spring. Everything else seems like it's complain about worthy.

No one's really from there. The place is sprawl with terrible traffic. The downtown is sketchy at best.

Why are people on him so bad for the Range Rover? He had a contract and finally he thought he had made it to his professional destination. He is not the first guy to buy an expensive car and lose their job.

It's a douche car driven by suburban mom's. There is almost no reason for Range Rover to exist outside of a safari setting. It's most attractive feature to its owners is that other people know they are driving an expensive car.

People are hard on the Range Rover because it was the centerpiece of his flailing rant that the Score tried to Make Viral by trumpeting that they were never gonna back down from pursuing social justice. The ol' Social Justice Range Rover.

I get your point and would not buy one myself. Just found all the heat weird given the current prices of SUVs. I priced the Tahoe/Suburban/Expedition class the other day. Yikes!

I think he also used it as a put down towards someone , texter, Twitter , of how he was doin’ just fine despite your complaints about _________ . I have Range Rover !! . Also used it as a race -baiting tool about that racist cop who dared ask him if it was his car when he stopped for plates / registration .

People may have suspected he'd end up back in Chicago in some form eventually, but the idea that he'd been marked down to get a good spot at WSCR all along is something completely different IMO. Mac's issues didn't even surface until well after Goff had left and he only got back to the station thanks to several contingent events including his own firing in Atlanta. Obviously he had to have been well liked to get back to the station in the first place, but the notion that he was pet project destined to return all along and specifically replace Boers seems pretty revisionist to me.

They're a favorite of lowest crust of nouveau riche along with BMW 3-series. Not sure if Jason did any research on cost of ownership from awful reliability, premium fuel and insurance expenses but, hey, gotta look like a playa, y'know?

Heres the thread in which the luxury car was first brought up. Was a caller that prompted Goff to offer up what car he drives.

I think Mac's issues pushed up their timeline a bit, as did Jason getting fired in Atlanta. If all went as planned, Jason would have been on the air for a handful of years in Atlanta when he would be brought back home to replace Terry. I think the fact that Mitch gave a recently-fired Jason Goff, who was doing an NBA Sirius show at the time, the midday show with Spiegs indicated that Goff was always an Heir Apparent. Problem is, Mac going AWOL and Mitch stupidly putting Mannelly on the air forced Goff into the fold prematurely, which meant he learned absolutely nothing from his Atlanta exodus, because he wasn't on Sirius long enough to taste the crow.

The Range Rover was also part of the "that's why you tune in to hear me" bullshit. Unwarranted cockiness, thy name is Jason Goff.
