Except it's not, that's only a narrowly defined federal law. The state in question also has a law proscribing discrimination based on age. Violating anti-discrimination laws is either an "issue of significance" or it is not. But thank you for saying you are downplaying the seriousness of the issue because of the politics involved. Now we can move on.

Why is JLN supporting state law over federal law pertaining to discrimination laws, but then he is supporting federal law over state law pertaining to marijuana.

It doesn't seem to me like it should work like that.

I think we should discriminate against hypocrites.

The federeal law in question only deals with handgun sales, not long guns. In the absence of federal law, the state law governs, for the most part. No evidence of hypocrisy here, just like your other claims about me.

I'm not discussing that law. Please follow. I'm talking about there being no federal law regarding age discrimination for an 18 year old.

The Civil Rights Act also doesn't bar discrimination based on gender in places of public accommodation (probably to sidestep this pesky bathroom issue), but states have passed laws regarding same that rightly rule their jurisdiction. Same here.

B2 article in the WSJ today. Dick's disclosed that traffic is down in the wake of their decision to no longer sell guns to folks under 21. Article is behind a pay wall:

Someone should tell the gun people it was just a "PR move" and actually didn't mean anything.

A conscious decision to choose to become a catalyst for change at the cost of an extremely modest amount of revenue.

Working as intended. Those hillbilly 2A buyers no longer coming into the store were likely the ones to open up a Dick's card and default anyway.

Just wait for the punitive damages. Flagrant unlawful discrimination is abhorrent.

What is a company's goal?

To profit or serve the population?

or both?

I think the Scheel's in my area is going to have a nice up-tick in business. I usually get most of my ammo from there anyways.

I was just disappointed that Dick's doesn't stock size 14 men's baseball cleats.

These fools are going to destroy their existing inventory of firearms.

I'd like to know..why does a private corporation feel they have final say/ownership over their assets/inventory.

Well I certainly think it's stupid to burn inventory. I mean if they donated that stuff to law enforcement they could at least get some kind of tax benefit I'd imagine. But that's not why I didnt understand your post. I didnt know whether you were talking about Dicks or something else.

Was there today to get cleats for my kid. They were out of at least 5 pairs in his size. Ended up going to a specialty store because there was a practice tonite. But with inventory issues like that, Amazon will continue to kill them. I bought a bat online instead of there.

Also, they no longer have boxes of shoes out, so you have ask for help, which is spread thin. My understanding is Nike paid to renovate their shoe section, so you see more Nike’s than other brands.

My point is they need to get their base business figured out, and stop with the SJW crap.

Dick's stock has lost 40% of its value in the last year. They should be prioritizing other things as their problems are only going to get deeper.

They should go back to having a climbing wall, golf hitting bays and making the shopping experience there fun. It's lost a lot of it's appeal and become just another sporting goods store and stores like Sportmart and Sports Authority can attest to how that ends up these days.

They never had any of those items. That was Galyan's before they fully Dicks-ified them.

The Dick's in Orland Park has hitting bays. I've used them on two different occasions.
