I likes me a good Western, but I don't get the "Tombstone" love. Lot of cheese in that flick.

All the above are great and I will add:

3:10 to Yuma
Young Guns- I know you will say no movie whose theme song is a Bon Jovi hit can make this list but I'm telling you it is a legitimately good western.

3:10 to Yuma also very good. I may not go to the theater but I want to see the new western coming out with Bale.

I think Young Guns II had an Ignatius grad in it. In any case, "Blaze of Glory" is Rolling Stone's twelfth-best rock song of all time.

I think I might be going through menopause; the ending of Shane was an emotional time for me.

Young Guns has the SICP grad and a countryman in Casey Siemaczko. He's plays the expert in the pugilistic arts.

I still haven’t seen Tombstone, even though I have a copy. I’ll get around to it someday, WZ.

One glaring omission is Winchester 73. Nothing like Jimmy Stewart in a cowboy hat.

You bought a movie. The movie is Tombstone. Tombstone has one of the great movie characters of all time in Doc Holiday, never mind the Sam Elliott appearance. You haven't watched it.

What kind of sick man are you?

High Noon - my fav western. 'Do not forsake me oh my darlin' - sung by the father of Jack Tripper aka John Ritter.

It's pretty awesome how many people on this board exposed themselves as racists in this thread.

Why?

Watch The Shootist or Liberty Valance or if you want darker...The Searchers.

Red River is almost great. My mom thought Montgomery Clift was good-looking.

They always seem long and boring. Little too dramatic macho. Seems like the rom com chick flick equivalent.

The Shootist is a great story of a man accepting the end of his life and what he’s made of it.

Liberty Valance is a tale of the rule of law coming to the frontier with a love triangle. One of the great movies ever and the best final line of any movie in my opinion.

You can’t just watch the end.

It loses all the meaning.

Don’t ever watch another Western. You don’t deserve them.

But Tom why did ya do it? Maybe It's Jimmy Stewart. He fits in It's a Wonderful Life but otherwise...ehh. He's your favorite actor no?
