That play on Contreras at third is solid evidence.

Nope. From 2016.

Pretty dumb thought. Sounds like something mini ditka would post.

At least Bryant was hustling home...can you imagine if he coasted in and his run didn't count?

Ruining the game. Again. I'm so sick of seeing every fucking close play the defense begging for a review. It's worse than every receiver looking for a flag on every incomplete pass.

They couldnt be doing more to ruin the game if they tried. This is going to reach epic proportions next year when they implement the runner on 2nd rule in extra innings

Yes but replay saved Javy from being called out at 3rd on a not even close play. You need better umps if you want to get rid of replay.

Every sport is "ruining the game". Football you can't hit anyone, Basketball can't play defense and moved the 3 point shot too close and now every game is a 3 point contest with video game type offenses. Baseball is just trying to keep up with the rest of the over paid corporate assholes ruining our games.

I'm mostly referring to the slide carried the runner off the bag for a fraction of a second when he beats the throw by 2 steps or something like that, not calling out a clearly terrible terrible call like the one on Javy at 3rd... that ump... I mean that wasn't even a close play at all and he pooched it.

I agree completely. Very sad to see what is happening to the great culture of sports and athletics that the United States has built over the centuries. It deserves so much better than its current stewards.

Baseball is best when they get the call correct. This is a bad thought/thread.

Wrong. Getting the call correct is ideal, but it sholdn't be a value that trumps everything else, like the excitement of a play. 1-0 game, two out bottom of the ninth, man on first, Bryce Harper up. A drive into the gap, Almora fields it quickly. Two great throws, the relay to the Contreras, he's OUT! at the plate. The crowd goes wild. The game is over. But no. We have to have a committee meeting to decide if he's really out.

Well what if he was safe? These umps suck, It shouldn't take more than 9 or 10 seconds to review any call. I can't wait for automated kzone where a ball is a ball and a strike is a strike.

You know what? Sometimes shit doesn't go your way. That's life. That's baseball. Or at least it always was. Now we're fucking up the game in a futile attempt to get calls right. They're often wrong anyway. I simply don't think making sure every call is right (or trying to) is a value that outweighs everything else.

Automatic balls and strikes may be consistent. But that's not baseball. It's something else. Why not just have robots play the games too? Wouldn't a robot at short be amazing to watch? He'd never drop a ball like Addison Russell.

Robots? The players play, let the best team win with no horseshit calls from 60 year old fat fucks not playing.

But wouldn't the game be closer to perfect if we could program the players not to make errors? Who wants to see Schwarber kick a ball? I can't wait for the future when a robotic outfielder makes all the plays. Baseball will be great then without errors by 24 year old fat fucks who have no business in an outfield.

There was a time I was all for replay but It’s gone from fixing egregious mistakes to ticky tack crap. I’m pretty much at the point that if this is what replay is I’d rather go back to not having it at all.
