Bears Trade down and still get either Minkah Fitzpatrick or Vita Vea.

More fun to guess what the Browns do.....I'll go with Josh Rosen and Chubb

I think there is a pretty strong chance both Nelson and Barkley are available at 1.7 and whoever the Bucs dont take (I'm becoming increasingly convinced they'll opt for Nelson) the Bears will scoop up.

Isn't Barkley considered the best player in the draft? I would LOVE to find a way to get him but I would settle for Nelson.

My small observation is that every year you guys do a thread like this, and then the Bears go out and draft someone that no one picked. I am so damn confused by who they should pick.

I depend on CFMB to help me with NBA and NFL draft stuff because I barely consume college sports and have no original opinion on these matters.

who they should and who they do pick don't have to match

I said in January that they will pick Edmunds. I think they should pick Ward (with the caveat that Barkley or Chubb are gone).

I wouldn't say you get all the info you need reading these threads but you get decent concrete info.

I hear the scrubs they put n the Score. But honestly, the stuff you guys post is enough for me to get familiar with the draft dynamics and key players. The DH also runs a multi-part series, but they do it by position and not in the aggregate.

I consider him the best. I think he is no worse than the equal of Elliott and Gurley and very much ahead of Fornette for comparisons sake.

If he is there they should draft him and immediately get on the phone with someone who needs a RB and could use Howard's style. He seems like a Bronco type of RB. I'd trade Howard and a 4 for a 2 and both of their 3.

1) Nelson
2/3) Smith or Minkah
4) Trade down.

What would be the level of anger if they traded up to grab Chubb at say 4?

I'd put the level of anger at about 1,000 on a scale of 100.

Cleveland media has all but confirmed Darnold at #1.

Bears should grab Chubb or Ward at 8, but I have a feeling the Bears won’t stay at 8...

Mayock has Roquan Smith to the Bears. I'll take it.

Nelson to Denver, Bills trade up to 6 for Josh Allen.

I would love Smith. Step on the field day 1 and make plays.

I am optimistic with the beloved, so far. They need a productive draft. Tell Ginny Peoria Matt says Hi.

Denzel Ward, CB, OSU

We spent a lot of time in advance of last year's draft discussing the qualities of OSU DB Lattimore and Hood. Lattimore certainly justified the attention and Hood did as well before he was hurt. The only question was whether a team could justify drafting a DB at 3. Now we are presented with a player many consider to be Lattimore's equal of superior. We are further down in the draft where the position is much more justifiable.

Oh no, but what about Prince Amukamara? Get bent. I'll take the rather large upgrade at a premium position.

Funny thing was, in Hub's Daily Herald column yesterday, he said Nelson won't be there for the Bears. He must have changed his mind in his final mock draft, and I think it was because of the trade he outlines in that link.

someone reposted a pretty detailed and supported analysis over at cbfans that Smith would not be very good at ILB but that he needs to play WLB in order to have success. He can chase but run at him or send a blocker at him and he is dead. This seems logical as he is small and light for the position. I assume that means that he shouldn't be projected to pass rush

All that I know is that I hope like hell that they pick the best offensive player available in both the first and 2nd rounds. They need a LOT on offense. They've got their qb and rb(s) but need everything else.

Trade all the picks. No point in the Bears trying this draft thing anymore.

Want Quenton Nelson

Will look to trade down and recoup a pick or two if he is gone.

I'm on the same boat as Seacrest here unless Lamar Jackson shoots into the top 5 (this is possible) and it causes Barkley to fall. Thne obviously take Barkley.

The question I have is who to trade down for if Nelson is gone. I've come around on thinking that unless god hands them a gift from above they should be looking to address OL above anything else.

Trade thoughts:

  • 4. Cleveland: Could very well move out of the 4th slot - lot of rumors saying they're possibly going to package some veterans with the 4th pick and move down in hopes of getting a corner.
  • 5. Denver: If Giants take Barkley and/or there's a drunken trade up for a QB, they could move down a ways and recoup value. Bills are my guess for who would jump in here, but who knows.
  • 6. Indianapolis: I don't see Ballard trading down. Great position to pick a consequential player on a team that's still forming. Need to make the most out of this positioning.
  • 7. Tampa Bay: Doubtful. I think they're going to field tons of phone calls in hopes of getting overpaid in return, but with the Bears, 49ers, and Raiders all set at QB, teams like AZ, MIA, and BUF could all potentially deal their way into those picks without sacrificing nearly as much. Hypothetically.
  • 8. Chicago: Coin flip. Best value they could pull would likely be with the Patriots giving up their two firsts, but I can't think Belichick would have such conviction over a player unless somebody like Rosen was still on the board. AZ & MIA may not want to wait their turn and also offer a cozy package, but it's completely uncertain whether or not Pace's #1 player is still on the board at this point or if he perhaps stupidly traded up already.

Not my guy, (risky pick ,IMO) but I think it's going to be Edmunds. I am actually convinced. No Roquon Smith, he's strictly a WILL backer in a 4-3. Edmunds they can move all over the field.

Probably right. Edmunds feels like such a Pace pick. Versatile, athletic. Also fills a position of need.

it seems curious that Denver has made such a big deal about not wanting a QB and being open to trading down. Could they really be that sold on Keenum?
