If it were to actually happen most people in the world would die and the idea of "winning" would seem quaint in comparison to the horror. That's the real reason it won't happen.

Single Integrated Operation Plan. For a long time it governed the strategic and tactical implementation of America's (the country) nuclear arms. It has since been replaced by something that sounds a lot less cool.

How are we getting mechanized infantry to China in a conventional war? We can project power incredibly well, but they have a standing army about twice the size of ours.

A lot easier than they are getting it here.

Once again, the issue here isn't if we could win a land war against them in China. We may lose there. It still is happening on their soil, with virtually all of their neighbors on our side besides Russia, and if they "beat" us they have ruined their biggest trading partner, have little chance of ever getting their money back that we owed them prior to the war and they still have to contend with all of Europe that would be clearly on our side.

There just isn't a scenario where they are against us that it works out well for them. This is different than Japan in WWII who had a clear path to dominance in the whole region with a win.

In a WWIII scenario, the best case scenario for China would be to come out of it as the victor with us.
