Ridley and Sutton are pretty good and I'd have been happy with any of the three. Miller feels special though, he's got all the right skills just need to get him on the JUGS machine non stop between now and camp. The only knock on him is his hands.

About time the Bears got a guy who could really run a fucking route. Even Jeffery and Marshall just kind of went up there and grabbed the ball.

DJ Chark out of LSU is a sleeper. He's a really great value here.

after sobering up, thoughts for Day 3:

-the pass rush situation is still weak, way too weak. Arden Key was brought up, and they are going to need to try and hit a home run at that position somewhere in this draft. Floyd is simply not good enough and Lynch...gmafb that shit is a joke.
-a tackle would be nice, if nothing else another project like Jordan Morgan
-Pace is going to take his yearly runningback but he's earned the right to do that I suppose
-another defensive back cant hurt. I dont have a lot of faith in Fuller.

They are still not built like a modern defense. The secondary is middling and the pass rush is really shitty. The offense is capable of carrying games though, and if they get just a little lucky hopefully they can wring enough turnovers out of the guys they've got now to push them over the edge.

I was hoping they could get Holton Hill tomorrow. A tall, fast CB out of Texas.

But, I don't think he's going to last. Too many CBs taken.

They REALLY need an OLB. They can't roll with Floyd and Lynch next year. If they don't find something in the draft they are going to have to troll whats left in FA or cuts.

Hmmm. They're going to keep Whitehair at C and put Daniels at G.

Pace just had to trade up. Can't ever go into a draft with all of his picks.

Bet you pace is the guy who falls in love with strippers.

I like these picks. But it sure seems he has a short list of players.

As I said earlier in the thread, Whitehair is a lousy guard but a top tier center. I know nothing about Daniels capabilities as a guard but presumably they do. If neither can play guard then it was a wasted pick.

Cross-training is a stupid concept and a great way to sabotage a guy's confidence. Whitehair is obviously better suited for guard but emergency center duty fucked his shit up a little. Let him settle in and actually play guard every day and there's little doubt he'll excel.

Does anyone know anything about Jordan Morgan or is he pretty much toast?

I wouldn't say he's toast necessarily, but he's got to stay healthy. Missed all of last year with a shoulder injury and the team has a lot of mediocre depth in Kush, Watford, and Grasu. Watford can play guard and tackle; Kush can play guard and center.

I think Morgan, assuming he's healthy, has the edge on Grasu to make the roster, especially considering Morgan can play tackle as well. I guess it depends on how many OL bodies they want to keep on the roster.

I have no idea. It’s not like a Purdue guy you can always count on. But this guy with Long right and Whitehair left let’s roll.

Yeah. I get the nonsensical ramblings early!

Why would he be lousy at guard, but highly competent at center? Something isn’t adding up here, because he’s taking on interior defenders, just as he would if he were playing out of a guard slot. Are you saying that he isn’t good at pull blocking?

Tbh, I've never read he was lousy at guard -didn't he play guard for the Bear his rookie season? Either way, I have no problem with the switch for either guy. I think Daniels should be able to do either at the next level. I will say his athleticism is one of the reasons scouts loved him, and I can see that part of his game exceeding Whitehairs right away. So putting him (Daniels) at guard over Cody in Nagy's offense makes sense from that view point.

I'm with you on the O-line cross training thing. But, I also think it's easier for a Center to transition to Guard than it is for a guard to transition to Center, if that makes sense. Cody is a good/solid Center when he's healthy, and Daniels should be able to adjust to the Guard position pretty easily imo.

I just hate when teams try to move Guards to Tackle. It's stupid and almost never works out. Just draft guys that did it in College.

I guess that I understand having players being able to play multiple places but to this extent, I just do not know. Daniels, I do not think is suited to play guard. Their history is full of last minute moves of players to other positions. Just look at Long and Whitehair, for example. As much as both of these guys are good soldiers and said the right "team" things, I doubt that they were happy jumping into new positions as a kind of team thing.

Personally, I think that Whitehair could make a very good offensive tackle because he has the best technique of all of their offensive linemen.

All that being said, I think that Daniels is a welcome addition and I think he will become a center when all is said and done.

Worst pair of OTs in the entire NFL. This is now three consecutive coaching groups who have failed to bring in an OT worth a rat's ass.

Leno is a perfectly average LT in the NFL. Massie isn't great and they should've done more to improve that spot, but he's not a disaster.

I think there is absolutely no truth to Pace's rambling that Daniels is going to play guard.

Why? Daniels was drafted because of his athleticism which exceeds Whitehairs, and the new offense requires athletic pulling guards.

I really don't think this is an issue. If they were projecting him as a Tackle or some crap like that I'd be with you, but Center to Guard isn't that far fetched.
