Somebody does need to tap Pace on the shoulder here and tell him this isn't really what he was hired to do, though. These guys are total bums.

It's the fucking 6th round. Have some presence of mind.

Deon Cain (WR Clemson) still on the board too. No way you can argue some of these picks are ST picks either, especially this last pick.

Pace gets an 'A' from me with his 1st 3 picks, but he's been a solid 'F-' since then. Wow.

Colts took him.

It's stupid to waste draft picks like this.

I think Pace could just skip a draft pick and say "nah you know what, I like where we are at. Pass" and you'd defend it.

Well, all the guys I wanted in the 4th round are still available.

Bears can be UDFA Champions.

Eh. Fitts could be a great utility if he stays healthy. Not promising in that regard, as foot and ankle injuries have plagued his college career. But yeah, he's just drafting LOL BUSTS now. Overreactions are typical.

It's a 6th round pick. If the top of the draft proves out, Pace is earning his keep.

He's swinging at potential pass rushers now. But he's passed on more productive guys from bigger schools in doing so, which doesn't make sense to me. Yes, guys like Hurst and Sweat obviously have concerns too, but so do some of the guys Pace is actually picking. What I don't know, is if some of these picks double as 'well, we can use them on special teams too' type players. I think with the 4th round pick the answer is yes, the latter 2 tho I don't see it. I also don't think Hurst or Sweat are good fits for that either tho.

I don't overreact too often to these types of things, so if you want to continue your gimmick here and jump on anyone who doesn't like the choices being made, fair enough. But it's not coming from a place where I'm just throwing random thoughts out here. I put time into reading, watching games, and going over clips the best I can before drafts so I can at least have honest opinions about these things. It's one of the reasons I was able to have an honest discussion about Eddie Jackson last year during the draft after people were shitting on the pick (for example).

I'm not always right, but I'm not parroting or copy and pasting other people's thoughts here because I don't have my own.

They should have taken Hurst or Sweat in the 4th and prayed to the Almighty Ditka that the guy with the unpronounceable name could have lasted to the 6th if this is what they wanted.

Good pick for them, solid value at this point in the draft too. He's a bit of a project tho that doesn't have a lot of ST experience (iirc). A great athlete tho that comes from a program (Clemson) thats produced some solid WR's the last few years. Needs to work on his route running and concentration on looking the ball in to limit drops -he's one of those guys that tries to turn and make a play before he's secured the catch. I do like him tho.

They cant really say they are wary of guys with injury history after drafting this total bum from Utah who has barely seen the field the last two years.

If you’re insinuating I’m echoing from someone else, not sure what gave you that impression.

I simply feel like it’s good to keep an open mind and see the potential, but it’s a drag when some members don’t even try. It’s a bust, he’ll never pan out, etc. Maybe I’m naive, I don’t know.

I only defend Pace as much as I do because SOMEbody should around here. There’s no gray with Pace from many of you; it’s either a great move or the worst thing anyone has ever done in the history of professional football.

I’m no expert whatsoever and have no credentials to make my opinions better or more informed than anybody else, so maybe I’m the stupid one here.

Ballard is having a good draft. Makes it all the more bittersweet the Bears didn’t feel like his ideas regarding pushing out team brass weren’t in their best interests.

The Kylie pick is just kinda silly, ha ha I picked a guy with a girls name, but hey Ashley Lelie stuck around in the league so who knows.

But the 4th rounder was dumb. There were guys there on the board that could've really contributed. Pace has shown a real adeptness at drafting runningbacks. Would've much rather he taken one he liked there than some special teams guy he could've signed after the draft. Honestly it feels like a favor to someone.

Nah, not trying to talk down to you bud. Was just putting it out there about myself so you and others know I'm trying to be as honest as I can when I give an opinion. I'm not always going to give in depth comments about every pick or group of picks -sometimes it's just a swipe with a broad brush over the canvas with a 'these guys are bums' lol

Im a fan just like you and everyone else here -I want what's best for the Bears- and I'm not immune to the occasional meatball reaction to things I don't like/completely understand.

But yeah, I don't like day 3 so far. I'm happy for Pace to prove me wrong tho.

Looks like Flowers is still there too. That would work.

I’d like a freight train.

Agreed. Tho I am surprised they havent taken a flyer on a mid round QB talent given Lucks past injury history. I get not trying to grab one early in the draft, but today wouldn't have seemed too out of sorts for it.

I think Cunningham is a strong 3rd back, personally. He's versatile, good on ST, and is young enough to have a good amount of tread on the tires. Not a game changer maybe like Howard or Cohen, but has the versatile type of depth that is valuable (in my eyes, anyway).

I wasn't happy with the Iyiegbuniwe pick as it happened, but watched some highlights, read a bit about him, saw what more informed football beats had to say, and it made the strangeness easier to swallow. Fitts too is like who the fuck is this guy, but that's just how the latter rounds of the draft have always played out to me. High risk, high reward. Pace seems to do that with his late-late round picks, but if he washes out, not much is lost.

If the Bears end up with

  • Smith - Day 1 starter at LB
  • Daniels - Day 1 starter at G/C
  • Miller - Eventual starter/Quality depth at WR
  • Iyiegbuniwe - Quality ST specialist & Fangio multitool LB/S hybrid
  • Nichols - Goldman understudy
  • Fitts - Rotational EDGE with high upside if healthy

I'd say that's a pretty quality draft. There's always going to be What Ifs but on the whole, not too bad whatsoever. Obviously "not too bad" needs to pan out into "2-3 of these picks need to be special NFL difference makers within two years," but that is very possible.

Seacrest has been erect all day with all the draft capital spent on Special Teams. He can't wait to see these players under the wing of Josh Bellamy.

I'm a Notre Dame fan and loved him. He and Kizer had good chemistry but Wimbush brought down his stats. Definite red-zone target at worst.

Flowers has good receiving skills for a huge guy out of the backfield.

You could make him a TE.
