Vegas coming out on fire with 3 goals in the first 6:02 of Game 1.

dayum, 5-0 Vegas now in the 3rd. Not looking good for my Sharks to the SCF pick.

Vegas is for real! I thought SJ had home ice but guess not.

I think the winner of this series goes to the finals.

6-0

I don't know what to think of this Vegas team.

If you have an expansion team in the 2nd round of the playoffs.....you clearly over-served them with the draft.

No chance they beat Winnipeg, but still....I think this makes the league look really dumb.

Hellebuyck puts up a perfect 20/20 in the first period alone. 1-0 Jets despite the Perds leading 20-4 in shots on goal and 31-12 in attempts.

Coming up on 40 minutes now, we're just about due for an even-up call on Nashville. The big yellow babies work the refs so hard.

So much for evening up the PIMs: Wheeler got hit with a ticky-tack goalie interference penalty, then came out of the box and set up Scheifele for the third Winnipeg goal of the night. This will go down as a very unfortunate game for Nashville to have lost, if the 3-0 lead holds.

Shots:

Winnipeg: 19 on goal, 7 blocked, 13 missed, 39 total
Nashville: 48 on goal, 26 blocked, 13 missed, 87 total

Well, if you can chuck 87 shots and get more than half of them on goal every night, you'll probably win the best of seven, but that's a big if, isn't it? Can't see this kind of imbalance continuing through the series with two teams as evenly matched as these. Huge, HUGE Jets win.

Good game between TB & Bos. Raask loses a skate blade and gives up a goal while bitching about it.

Raask seems to have those meltdowns from time to time. But it’s a good game 4-2 now.

Rask has always been a hyper-sensitive bitch.

Boston's top line looks unstoppable. Marchand showing off with a between the legs redirect for a goal.

I tend to like watching his teams over last few years but I’ve never been sure about those who elevated him to elite coaching level.

Well, the results are what they are, just about everyone who came up through Norfolk/Syracuse with him has been amazing. I'd put him behind Quenneville and Babcock but he's up there.

Barry Trotz is the one I'm really starting to wonder about. Adding a "real coach" like Trotz to the chronically undercoached Capitals (Hanlon, Boudreau, Hunter, Oates) and giving Trotz an actual team instead of Weber, Suter, tweeners, and plugs should have elevated both sides to greatness. Instead, they're both the same second-round out they always were before joining forces.

Cooper has to throw his best checking lines out against the Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak line--forget goal production from those lines, just task them with shutting down Boston's top line:

"Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-David Pastrnak trio this postseason In wins (five games): 12 goals and 41 points. In losses (three games): Zero goals and zero points."

No doubt he is a very good coach. Probably some silly hostility of the perceived uptalk he got vs Hawks in final a few years ago. I’m willing to admit that.

Many observers were aching for the NHL to have a Throbbing Brain Coach like La Russa or Belichick. Dallas Eakins was supposed to be that at one point but then he turned out to be one of the most incompetent people ever to coach.
