That's a bullshit answer. Need I remind you that there was also a law called the Fugitive Slave Act?

Governments also used to have Senate orgies consisting of mostly men. Governments also used to make poorly written laws about the right to bear arms.

We're a lot better of a country in 2018, with room to improve. But the Patriot Act should not bother you unless, again, you've got something to hide.

You don't like it? Move.

Perhaps one of the dumbest statements I've ever seen.

And that's saying something.

I'd have to go with this one...

IMU wrote:

The sacrifice "for the sake of freedom" is that your government can't keep you 100% safe all the time, nor should they. This statement is in direct contradiction to his very own argument.

Yeah the "if you've got nothing to hide" argument is the dumbest form of trolling.
God I hope it was trolling.

Given his past posts, it wasn't. IMU is one of those truly dumb people who believes we should readily surrender basic rights for a false sense of security.

He probably strips down nude for the TSA agents and hands them lube when he goes through airport security.

Are you guys saying only some sacrifices are worth it?

Dead children are cool, but God forbid the government looks into someone because they are wearing the t-shirt of a known hate group.

The masses have shown that they need a government to take care of them. This could be propping civilians up, or protecting them from themselves. I am on board with this.

You have not proven you can be successful without the foundation and stability the government provides.

It could also be the latest in a series of trolling posts.

Actually it's the Constitution which forbids this.

The fourth amendment prevents issue of a warrant without probable cause. A warrant was NOT issued due to this person's t-shirt.

As you are a Constitutionalist, I ask myself how you rationalize only sometimes taking the Constitution literally.

Well technically, neither God nor the Constitution forbid looking into a given U.S. citizen for possible misconduct. You just can't start searching or seizing personal property from the get go.

Dead children isnt cool. It's a crime. When children are murdered the suspect is dealt with. I'm not sure what you are trying to say here.

Probably people in charge of the same flawed processes that don't identify the Mossad as an international state sponsored terrorist organization.

I'm surprised at how many people rely on them--as well as how biased they are and how wrong they've been in the past.

Agreed, but the people that rely on them agree with their agenda...just like those that rely on Infowars or Huffington Post or Fox News or whatever.

Sad.

The feds will search you home if you wear the wrong t-shirt!

i remember reading blotter writeup in the local paper where some guy was driving down dempster, gets pulled over for speeding.... at which point i think a cop smelled marijuana or something so the guy consented to a search of his car, which turned up weed, and then [supposedly] consented to a search of his house in palos heights which turned up a safe with like $5000 + weed/drugs + a handgun in it.

that said, reading the article you gotta be some kind of idiot if you've got people dropping dime to campus security that you love guns and are down with white supremacy. there's a saying in *chan culture "hide your powerlevel" and evidently this kid never heard/figured-out that one. maybe he wanted to get laid via edgelord status? that's something i wouldn't even put in the realm of possibility in trump's america (*rimshot* =)

I actually understand every word of that and, as such, I'm feeling quite unsure of myself presently.

Put these 2 bolded statements next to each other. IMU has just gone full retard.

Giving up your 4th Amendment rights is a sacrifice required for freedom... Holy shit that is quite possibly the dumbest argument I have seen on this board, and this is a board where Baby Mac posts daily so that is truly saying something.

Yeah... that's all time stupid.

I'm sorry - what right do you think is being taken away from you in my scenario?

The right to commit a crime is the only right I'd think you'd be lacking.

Considering you were talking about the PATRIOT Act as a "sacrifice for freedom"....

The Patriot Act helps secure your freedom.

I'm not sure the Constitution would mean much to you if sustained acts of terrorism erode this comfortable society that affords you the ease of complaining about this comfortable society.

You sound like a petulant child. "No one tells me what to do or how to act!"
