Pippen or Wade? You're building a team...your first pick is between these two players, and their career performance will not differentiate from what they had. Who is better?

It’s really close. If I’m building a team I guess I go Wade because it’s likely easier to find guys that compliment him than it would be to find a superstar scorer.

If I have my star scorer in place I would obviously go Pippen.

Either way I think it’s closer than MANY will say.

I never liked Wade but it would be close. I take Scott Pippen.

Does Wade play D like pippin did? I dont think so. Nobody plays Defense anymore. Maybe his style would be a thing in today's NBA.

Yes, players play defense still.

Fun fact: Wade leads all guards all time in blocks. He was not a bad defensive player at all. But of course Pippen was way better on that side.

I've despised DWade for years, but I'd easily take him over Pippen

Pippen. I don't think it's that close.

Wade is a great player but Pippen was a much more versatile two-way player.

Don't tell him I said that!

Jordan had more blocks than Wade.

Without looking it up would you care to guess who had more all NBA first team appearances?

Come on. Will you make the same argument in an attempt to claim Steve Nash was better than Kobe since he doubled him in MVP trophies?

It depends. Would that argument irritate you?

I guess it was blocks per game I was thinking of.

Prime Wade was a great two way player. He stopped giving a shit around the time LeBron got there.

Pippen could guard anyone on the court for periods of time when necessary.

It's more than enough evidence to say that both are equals, or close to being equals. Not sure why everyone is saying it's a no brainer either way. Wade was superior offensively - Pippen was better defensively and held his own on offense.

It’s Wade, and it’s not that close.

Also, I love Pippen.

Of course. Pippen is one of the best defensive players ever. Wade at his best was also one of the best players in the NBA, and led a team to a title with a dominating performance in the postseason. For a 6 year stretch or so he was of the most electric, dominant players in the league.

Like I said, it’s close. You’re getting a higher ceiling with Wade but a more consistently all around great player in Pippen. They’re both easily among the best players of their generation.

This was pretty accurate. Love how it’s roughly a 50/50 reply rate so far and like half the comments are saying it’s not close.

Pippen and it's not even close. Pippen could have averaged 25 in the Jordan years if Jordan wasn't taking all of the shots. That's about what Wade was averaging in his prime.

And the defense puts it over the top.

For what it was, Pippen was averaging about 20 during the Jordan years.

The first year without Jordan, Pippen lead the Bulls to 55 wins. And a bad call knocked them out of the playoffs. Then he took Portland to a game 7 vs the Lakers and lost in a close game. That would have been his 7th finals.

In Pippen's first year without Jordan he averaged 22 and shot 49%. Should have won the MVP that year.

When you’re overpowering offensively and still a very good defensive player it’s better than great offense and great defense.

For their careers and specifically the OP question I think it’s really close. I think Wade is the easy answer if the question is who was the better player at their best.

I dont get the comments saying it isnt close.

Two all time great players. How could this not be a close call? Either way you go your team is in good hands to start out

Didn't want to go here, but not having a good clutch mid range jumper matters. See 1.8.
