Something about hearing Parkins talk about gambling reminds me of an alcoholic trying to convince everyone at his intervention that it's actually good he drinks so much. I've heard people on various stations the last two days talk about gambling, and that's what it sounds like -- people talking about the recent news about gambling. With Parkins, it sounds like he's trying to justify his obsession with it.

Responsible gambling is a lot of fun. It's just another form of entertainment and is especially exciting when you already love sports. Parkins is definitely all in. I like his enthusiasm and full throated defense of the things he loves.

Bernstein is going to cream himself over this Dan Carcillo interview about head trauma and the NHL.

doesnt the fact that parkins doesnt deal with a bookie directly to make his bets make his gambling talk seem weak?

I have mixed feeling on the Carcillo interview. I love the awareness, but you seriously needed someone to tell you repeated hits to the head was bad?

If memory serves correct, he gave out more than his share of those hits...

he's stated multiple times he calls a friend who then places the bets with the bookie for parkins. parkins has no contact with the bookie.

He had a doctor's appointment in the morning where they sprayed his vocal cords with something and he was supposed to rest his voice today but should be back tomorrow. The last time he was in they treated it with something more extreme, causing him to miss multiple days.

I hope he'll be set for a while now.

It would be kind of funny if this led right into him having an already scheduled vacation for a week.

My mistake. I really don't think the middleman makes much of a difference.

I wonder if that's plausible deniability should things ever go sideways.

The truth is most likely the friend is booking the bets or at least some of them.

I am don't think that Parkins talking all day yesterday about how he loves weed and gambling will interest most SCORE listeners.
