As much as I ride DLee, I think that guy is going to have a huge year, they will need it.

Fontenot just continues to be the "pocket-rocket." It's funny how there was talk about him not making the team this spring training; I thought he deserved it after last season, and was glad to hear he made it after all. For a guy getting limited playing time, he's had a number of big plays this year already.

OK...so I am officially 1 & 0 on the season. I am going again on Saturday.

Anyway...Fontenot made the play of the game by far...with his diving stop & force out at 2nd. I like the dude...but he also dropped what was a sure double play ball...routine...and Cubs were lucky to get the force out at 2nd.

And...not open for discussion...Derrick Lee is completely back.

Go Cubs.

Corey batting leadoff with a .280 OBP. Hilarious. I miss Dusty.

Well, nobody has to worry about that for about a month.

I liked Theroit and him playing up the middle last year. I don't think he can be an everyday player though. He batted .300 the first couple of months and then ran out of gas.

speaking of fontenot and theriot, did you know they were teammates at LSU? i did, because WHENEVER they team up on a force out, len tells me! we know! we know!

According to the Score, Eric Patterson is at the park and not Matt Murton.

When Soriano gets placed on the DL I assume Patterson will take his place.

I believe Patterson is a second baseman but has played some outfield. Does he get playing time? or is he the Sam Fuld of 2008, pinch run and occassionally play defense.

I think Fontenot will probably get most of the at bats at second while DeRosa plays left, but why bring Patterson up if he is not going to play? Or will Paterson be getting more at bats?

Looking at the Cubs board, someone mentioned that Murton has only one option left and if you bring up Murton then after 15 days or when soriano comes back your stuck with a decision with what to do with Murton. You can't send him down without exposing him to waivers.

DeRosa can't play Left Field. Lou, you got by last night, don't push your luck with him. DeRosa already has misplayed one ball tonight.

This is great. I love it when they put it to the Reds.
And not taking out Fogg with the bases loaded in the 3rd and he throws two balls? Sooooo Dusty.

nice to see big z rebound from the last start, he was back on tonight. derosa looked interesting in left field, and i saw something even i, a strong pie supporter, never dreamed id see: him accepting a 4 pitch, non-intentional walk. that is definitely not something you see every day.

good job, go for the sweep lilly, time to snap out of it.

So i thought Zambrano would go deep and he diddn't but a 3 for 4 night from the 9 spot is pretty dam good. Heard today that's his 16 multi hit game. Where does he rank among active pitchers with lifetime batting avg. My guess would be some Atlanta pitchers and D. Willis are up there.

Ted Lilly...attention Ted Lilly. You've lost the strike zone. Please go to the lost and found and pick up the strike zone you've inexplicably lost.

Lieber warming up in the pen and warming to the idea of taking someone's spot in the rotation.
Ironic that Lilly drew a walk to drive in a run.

Don't ask me that. Lilly and Hill have both been horrible so far with Marquis' inevitable suckage to come. Not good, but there's time to pull out of it.

Maybe they should get Dusty's opinion before he leaves town.

That Volquez has good stuff, but 112 pitches in 6 innings? He's like a young Big Z

Not the way you'd like to finish a series with the chance to sweep on the line, but taking 2 of 3 will work every time. :salut:

Vann - i'm not sure if you are being sarcastic here or not - but Frank is the biggest - not to mention most obnoxious - Sox fan here that is more of an expert on the Cubs than the Sox
