Jurko just intimated that Ricketts hard line stance against Sammy is the result of listening to Woods and the other Cubs ambassadors .

It makes sense. I never understood why Tom Ricketts would have a bug up his ass about Sosa anyways? He didn't even own the team when that all went down.

Kerry Woods being celebrated as anything other than a symbol of underachieving suckage is a fucking travesty.Sosa did 10x more for that franchise than Wood ever did . Wood can climb down from his high horse anytime .

Line drive. Base hit. Caught out there. The runner tags. Throw to the plate. Off target. And in time...A double play

How about neither one of them ever did shit and they were both media creations? That seems accurate.

609 homeruns? No doesn't seem accurate.

Next time he hits one that matters, I'll give handjobs all around.

At least Wood won a couple playoff games

By that logic, Frank Thomas wasn't shit either.

It's not a Sox-Cubs thing. But if you mean to compare Frank Thomas, one of the game's all-time great hitters and first-ballot HoFer with Mr. Two Percent....by all means do.

Sosa could have been Willie Mays. But he chose to be a jackass extraordinaire.

I'm no Sosa fan, but his 66 HRs in 98 were probably the second most meaningful set of HRs outside of McGwire's that same year.

He's absolutely done more for the Cubs and baseball than Kerry Wood ever did.

I agree Frank is one of the game's all-time great hitters. But did any of those hits "matter"?

His 12 HRs in 2005 were catalysts.

Oh, and #2005.

You were the one who brought Frank Thomas, an all time great hitter, into this thread. So yes, they matter to you.

Except you would be wrong. Sosa was a HR monster. Wood was a one hit wonder.

If he was a home run monster, he'd be in the Hall of Fame....though the reverse racism against white folks does hurt him.

truth

Wood ranks as a middling pitcher in the grand scheme of things.

Literally no national baseball expert thinks of Wood when they think of the game's great pitchers

Agreed. Sosa was a joke. Wood had heart and more integrity in his toe than Sosa ever had. Health destroyed what would have been a really impressive career. Sosa is a poor man's George Bell without his " Flintstone vitamins".

If Rickets doesn't want Sosa around, fine.

But to be strong armed by Kerry Wood over this? Really?

Kerry Wood needs a connection to the Cubs more than Rickets needs Kerry Woods.

Like you guys have said, Woods was an OK player. But far from a HOFer.

And the Cubs just won a World Series. So fuck Kerry Woods. Him being an ambassador doesn't bring people to the park.

Once again, fuck Sosa too. But nobody should care what Wood thinks. Especially the owner of the Cubs.

There was a time the Cubs needed the old players that always lost to be a part of the franchise. They no longer need that.

Wood: If Sosa is invited back, I'm gone as ambassador.

Rickets: Ok. Bye.

Wood:  Wait, what?

Rickets: I said bye. We've got enough old Cubs to shake hands and kiss babies. We don't need your ass. Plus these current Cubs are gonna be my celebrated Cubs 20 years from now. Nobody is gonna celebrate your era.
