You've got some prejudice then. You're working backwards from your central point (LBJ isn't all that) instead of looking at the data objectively and going where it takes you. If the conference is so weak then why is James the only link between all 8 east finalists?

Because he's the best player in the league in the weaker conference?

I dont hate on LBJ as much as I used to so we cant have this fight. Im sorry.

Are we fighting? I'm just trying to separate hate from fact.

The teammate then blamed James for the pain the teammate felt every time he adjusted the championship ring on his finger.

The two biggest plays of that championship winning game were Love's defense and Kyrie's shot.

Who got them to the finals? The biggest plays of the Phoenix series were Paxson's shot and Grant's block.

True. Good thing MJ has the other 86 game winners to fall back on.

And he passed it to Paxson.

Was LeBron even on the floor at the end of that game?

Well, one of his best teammates almost died and had to retire from basketball.

The other one declined far more but still has the same number of rings.

His best teammate in Cleveland got injured this year along with another star and that team still took them to a Game 7.

I don't see Boston as a big individual accomplishment for James in the big picture. I see it more as a reflection of how mediocre his roster is.

He didn't pass it to Paxson. He passed it to Pippen who got it to Grant passed it to Paxson. Was Jordan even a factor in that play?

I think you answered your own question.

He also scored 75% of the Bulls points in that 4th quarter

Um, Wilt? (No)

Ok, I give up...list them.

Dan: Ok, Jordan had 4...

You'd think Jordan would have been an early guess (if not the first) but

I could take you more seriously if you didn't ask snide questions that you already know are absurd (was LBJ even on the floor?).

What are we debating? You keep throwing random stuff up about Jordan (he scored 75% of the team's points in the 4th) without seeing that James has done the same, whether currently or at some point in the past. The only clear-cut advantage Jordan has over James is rings, and for many that seals the deal. Fine. Whatever. But short of that there's nothing Jordan has done in terms of impacting the game on a daily basis that James hasn't done. And in some cases James has done it better than Jordan.

James is right there for everything you mentioned except for rings. I still think you're applying a 2011 paradigm to James.

Let me correct myself. He definitely has the "ability" to takeover games. Its more about balls.

I'll be curious to see what Lebron's are.

Spoiler alert: they’re gonna be better. Much easier to play offense now and also easier to do it when you don’t play any defense.

That’s not true. He was a clear cut better scorer and defender too.

That's a creative way of saying he scored 9 points.

Correct. Defense matters. It’s too bad LeBron forgot that around 5 years ago save for the occasional flamboyant backboard block.

I guess when you resort to that I officially won the argument.

Good game.

You've clearly lost the argument because you're falling back on the individual defense of wing players. This is worse than talking about Anthony Rizzo's defense.

That year Jordan took no plays off on defense was amazing. He showed Stacey Augmon no mercy one time in the corner where the Hawks stored him on offense.

I get why you keep resorting to sarcasm. There's no rebuttal for the defense argument for lebron and it's a JUGE reason his teams constantly lose to better offesnive teams. Need to play D to be the GOAT.

Defense is a team endeavor in the NBA. Jordan was a great defender... and it was great that he played alongside an even better defender his whole career.

Individual defense matters a lot and especially in the playoffs. You guys love to fawn all over LeBron's outrageous offensive stats while ignoring he routinely loses to better teams because of his absolute refusal to play defense the last 5 years. You mock it but this is why those of us who actually watch the league night to night tell you guys to watch the games. Notice how no regular NBA poster thinks lebron is GOAT? There's a reason for that. We watch the games.

So now Jordan is way better because he played better individual defense in the regular season?Nevermind the fact that you are always making fun of others for using anything but Finals games as a gauge of a player's greatness.

It's also interesting how scoring is supposedly so much easier now with the rule changes and the way the game is played, but that is only mentioned when discussing offense, not defense.

You wrote this sarcastically when I dared suggest that Lebron was as good as MJ. But now we're using regular season defense as our measure of greatness.

Your appeals to authority don't help your arguments and are no more effective than Julie DiCaro saying she's right because she's a lawyer. Also, I don't think a few basketball fans on a Chicago sports message board is what we would call a non-biased sample. Maybe next time we are debating gun rights, we should go poll NRA members to determine who is right.
