Both Hofburg and Vino Rosso will be on top edge for the race. By no means do I believe this is a two horse race.

The race will be full of intrigue now. Should be very exciting.

Besides Bravazo, Blended Citizen is the other horse I meant will be standing in Justify's way in the Belmont.

on a potentially dry track, if these damn storms will subside by then...it should be totally wide open.

preakness day sucked for betting. nothing but favorites all day. and a 15-1 placing for $7.80 seemed really low.

It's because the place pool was quite small. I was pissed it didn't pay more.

Wonder what odds Justify will get now? My guess is probably 2-1 for the Belmont. Bravazo will be 4-1 or 5-1.

Justify will be no more than 3/5 if he starts in the race.

Agree with JORR

Justify will open at even money and go down.

Not sure who else would be second choice right now - Audible coming back for this?

They may keep Audible out due to the common ownership. That isn't really sporting, but it may happen. if you're going to legit win a Triple Crown, it should be because you beat the best, not because someone sat to clear your path.

I'm going to say second choice comes down to Bravazo or Tenfold among those who look definite. But if My Boy Jack goes, I think he's for sure the second choice.

I could see Vino Rosso and Hofburg coming back as well. Neither will be heavily bet.

Yep. And I think both of them have legit chances to win.

Maybe you could see a little bit of it in the Derby, but certainly in the Preakness, Bravazo showed that late thrust and power that made his sire, Awesome Again, one of the top 50 horses of all-time. I think Bravazo still is yet to peak, as he showed losing by only 1/2 a neck to the best three-year-old. The horse is high alpha or overachiever, winning the Risen Star at 21-1, coming in 6th in the Derby at 66-1 and now placing in the Preakness at 15-1. Lukas said if his horse had another 15 yards, he would have won. On top of the natural ability and superb breeding, there's a fearlessness to the horse that you have to admire. What's also cool is that he's wearing the Awesome Again again color of black, like Oxbow, too.

I don't know how you make Justify the favorite at even money when he barely won. Not only was Bravazo threatening, TenFold was in contention, too. With possible new shooters coming in with Vino Rosso and Hofburg, Justify is vulnerable. Few horses win the third leg, because of attrition. That's what happened to Chrome.

How do you make him the even money favorite? The horse is 5-5. yes, he's been challenged but he's still undefeated. This isn't rocket science. His rating dropped from the Derby and yet he still one. If he bounces forward, he will be unstoppable.

Yeah, I've got a lot of issues with Rube's post above. First of all that Awesome Again is a top 50 horse all-time. I'm not sure he's top 50 in my lifetime.

But as far as favoritism in the Belmont goes, Justify- or any horse attempting to complete the Triple Crown- is going to be shorter than he should be. A lot of people just want to say they bet the Triple Crown winner. Some people won't even cash the tickets.

Awesome Again is number 41 all-time in earnings ($4.37 mil.) with only 12 starts, 9 of which were wins. The field for the BCC which he won in '98 is considered one of the strongest ever. He was undefeated in '98 (mic drop).

For Justify to deserve even money odds, he would need a 50% probability of winning. I don't see his probability being as high this time.

My memory isn't quite what it once was but without looking it up I think that Awesome Again BC Classic is the one where Coronado's Quest ran rabbit for him against Skip Away and Silver Charm. There were at least teo horses in that race I consider better than Awesome Again. Maybe even three.

Awesome Again beat 3 year-old champ Silver Charm in the BCC, who earned even more life-time than Awesome Again. But Awesome again did not run in the Kentucky, when Silver Charm did and won. The point I was trying to make is that Bravazo's form in the Preakness with that late explosiveness follows that of his sire, Awesome Again, notably in a race like the Whitney in '98. You think you're looking at a turf horse in how each finished with a low center of gravity.

I think this all makes for a great Belmont Stakes with Bravazo an underdog and his HOF trainer, Lukas, chasing HOF Baffert with the Triple Crown at stake.
