I don't think he intends to play football again. Him being under contract allows him access to the Bears medical staff and the facilities at Halas Hall at least until the final 53 man roster is due in late August.

It's a feelgood story, but does it set a precedent for players who say where's my gift contract?

Couldn't they throw him on the PUP list or IR?

Feels like a Nagy move to me. Wants player to know he wont forget their contributions to the team and leave them out to dry.

I have no information on this but I wonder if the contract was negotiated in exchange for an agreement not to file for worker's compensation or if the him being under contract makes him eligible for some pension/healthcare escalator?

That would seem dumb for Miller to do. Trade possible lifetime workers comp or settlement and pension for a one time one year minimum IR ride?

I am just basing this off of an interview with Bernstein, when Miller said he would not rule out a come back attempt.

Not necessarily. It does tell folks that the Bears will take care of you. IIRC they've done the same for Johnny Knox and others.

All of that stopped with the Emery regime and hasn't come back really until now.
