I love the Masters as much if not more than the next guy but I must say I have a true affinity for the U.S. Open which I
think is usually the toughest test of golf all year ( unless the weather kicks up at the British ). Going back to Shinnecock
for the first time in almost 15 years. Read an article last year that after what the guys did to Erin Hills they tightened up
the fairways significantly and over the years built a bunch of new tees to be able to stretch the course some.

I think the Open Championship has overtaken the U.S. Open for second on my list. The USGA has just really done some stupid things with this tournament recently. Hopefully going back to a traditional venue will help, but I've heard they've been tinkering with the course again.

It was a shame they tore into Erin Hills last year. I have played up there 3 times and it is a great layout. Hopefully they go back and
give them a little less room off the tee. Would like to see the winning score in the single digits under par.

I suspect Elmhurst Steve will provide a scouting report on the course. He's been a consumer of fine golf courses lately.

I love the USGA setting up a course where 3 or 4 under can win a championship. You spend all year watching these guys tear up track.

From watching Live and the US Open on GC the past couple days, short game is going to be king this week.

Justin Rose's game is in tremendous shape, and he knows what it takes to win a US Open. I've love to see Rickie break thru and get his first major as well.

To me, a proper US Open course setup has a winning score of -1. Make players use their entire arsenal, not just driver-wedge-8' putt for birdie on generic par 4s.

Shinnecock is such an insane course that I won't be surprised if the winning score is over par.

I don't watch very much golf, especially since I stopped playing about 7 years ago. But I will definitely watch on Sunday.

As far as "favorites" go I am going to pick Koepka as a repeat champion. He has looked really strong since coming back from injury and if
he is bombing it and keeping it in play I like his chances.

As far as "long shots" are concerned I would probably pick Mark Leishman who generally plays well on tough tracks, hits the ball pretty long
and can putt very well.

I'm hoping the winning score is around 10 over. That's the kind of open I'm looking for.

That would be awful.

+2, +3, would be fine. Even at -2 or -4 you are still going to see MANY bad shots and more than a few golfers struggling.

Interesting seeing not a lot of pundits liking Jordan's chances this week.

Guessing it's a lack of faith in his putter.

not enough, I want mass misery. Want at least 3 people to have to withdraw cause they run out of balls.

I'll settle for three guys under the age of 50 shooting 90+ in the one of the first two rounds.

Or Tiger doing something like 73-85-DNQ.

Saw a report while on the elliptical this morning that it would be 20 mph winds but that the course would be soft from some rain and that
they were expecting some pretty decent scores. I wish I was home watching but I should be able to catch some coverage starting at 3pm.
I'll check in on scores during the day. Would be nice if no one gets to better than -4 today if the conditions are easier.

Once a year, it's very fun to watch three of the top players in the world all miss the green from 155 yards.
