They are celebrating Aaron today in ATL and ESPN has him in the booth maybe for the whole game. DVR it. Great stuff and a Great American. Hammerin' Hank! He just spoke about one season where he had 44 HRS and 37 K's. Unreal.

I had to look that up because it sounded unbelievable. He actually didn't have any seasons with fewer strikeouts than homers...but he was close in 1969 with 44 HR and 47 K.

Something kept the guy grounded/sane for all this time. Would love to meet his wife. Off the top of my head I would put his ability to walk away from a high profile profession on par with Truman. They didn't seem to need the limelight and quit when the job was over. I can't think of a candy bar or coffee maker named after the guy. He was simply consistently great and walked as far as I knew walked away.
