My pre-game hockey meal was two cheeseburgers and two apple pies from McDonald's. I'd have to shit my brains out between periods, but it was worth it.

On a somewhat related note...

Was out doing some errands with the Mrs yesterday. We had a Chili's gift card that we got for Christmas, and decided to use it yesterday as there was one nearby. Applebee's, Chili's, Fridays, etc all have a deserved rep for being bland and pretty much the same.

We both got a burger yesterday, and while it wasn't the best I've burger I've had, it was a pretty solid lunch. I doubt I'll go out of my way to get back to a Chili's any time soon, but I would order a burger from there again.

How much would you have to hate someone to give them a giftcard to Chili's?

I don't know. How many hundreds of dollars of Chili's giftcards have you been given over the years?

Had Specialties today. Its an incredibly overpriced sandwich that tasted only half-way decent.

Never had a McGriddle until this morning. I may have been concussed when I ordered it.

It tastes okay, but man is it sitting like a concrete block in my gut. Plus it makes no sense at all. Syrup-flavor and cheese don't belong together ... I could make a strong case it doesn't belong with eggs either. Using bacon, or what they call bacon, doesn't do anything for me either.

Make it sausage and egg (gotta have something for filler I guess) without the cheese and you're on to something.

It's a fantastic hangover sandwich, but that's about the only time I would ever consume one.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't ever have McDonald's breakfast unless I was hungover.

My wife always get those, but always just with sausage and the pancake bun or whatever you call it.

Egg and cheese shouldn't be an option.

It's also good as a quick go to on the way to an early morning tee time.

That's a place I refuse to set foot in, purely based on the dumb name. Irrational, yes.

The cookie was great if you don't mind paying $4 for a single cookie.

Starting to warm up to Budlong's Fried Chicken in the Mart. Overpriced, but the sauce is pretty good on the tenders.

Budlong's is good and there is a similar chicken joint that opened recently called The Roost (in Skrine Chop's former space near the CBOT).

Seconded.

Anytime I'm in the area I stop at Hog Wild for the pork chop sandwich and a ride in the parking lot shuttle.

Thanks. I think there is a Roost on Milwaukee Ave. as well. They had good reviews, maybe I'll swing there this week.

Had to make arrangements to have one of my bedrooms re-carpeted. After working with a woman who appeared to be brain dead after
a long weekend of who knows what I saw a Jimmy Johns. I really shouldn't buy the Gargantuan, that is just a bit too much sandwich.
I may be able to skip dinner.

only 2 things Jimmy Johns does well are their jalapeno chips and sometimes their tuna isn't bad.

I often go to Anton's deli for a good sandwich and then next door to JJ just for a bag of chips.

We probably go in or order from there once a week or so. Cheap and good.

I like their sammiches and to be honest I don't live near any good delis up here between where I was and work. In a pinch either Jimmy Johns
or Cousins makes pretty good sandwiches. I should ask around and find out where a good deli is. You would think in a town of 100,000 there
would be a couple. I've lived in this area for over 15 years and don't know of one other than Tenutas which is not really in my path between
work and home.

I'll only do it if the special is good...I like the roast chicken and mashed potatoes especially. Their stuffed peppers aren't bad, and the chicken parm is top notch...it's especially convenient to pick up and get out of the office for 10-15 minutes, and nice and close to Wheeling.

I get the chicken salad salad, the $4.50 pasta is decent, their tuna salad is also top notch.

It's also almost directly across the street, so it's very convenient.

Alt Thai is just about my favorite lunch place around here. Just south of 14 on Arlington Heights Rd.

I've looked at that as an option...that's a little far for me...there is a Thai place in The Glen that I can get to in about 15 minutes...they're pretty good.
