He had a good season last year actually. Getting older and there is no place for him in the "modern NBA" apparently. Read that silly ass Deadspin article about him clogging up the lane last year but there is not way in hell that he was the problem. He demonstrated that he can still play. If Jersey plays him behind that garbage ass Jarrett Allen then they are stupid. Starting to have doubts about Gattison as a coach. Copycatting is killing the damn league.

He is a salary dump for Jersey essentially. Comes off the books after this year.

He's played 14 seasons in the NBA...the dropoff(big man) should be expected. Howard's numbers in year 14 are actually similar to Patrick Ewings

at some time (or maybe currently) wasn't he eating massive amounts of candy as his main diet? kind of crazy over the course of his career alone he went from being one of the most sought after players to now being called a lane clogging entitled waffling dinosaur

Pretty much this. He's never been interested in developing any parts of his game and it's showing as he ages. The league drifting in the opposite direction doesn't help but a motivated player of his size and skillset should be able to turn that into a benefit.

This. I mean, the way the league is, it is very hard for a big man to put a team on his back to advance far in the playoffs. See Anthony Davis.

I guess he could have been less of a weirdo, maybe a better teammate, but I think if you look at his stats, they are as was predicted from the day he was drafted. He did produce. He just wasn't a superman, he was a batman, and never had his superman.

Derrick Rose was on the candy diet. Did not know Howard was as well. He lead a time to the NBA Finals, now he's dumped for trash, and he's younger than LeBron.

guys you know whatever happens this offseason its going to be a war. there are a few teams that will pull backdoor deals to create a super team that can beat the warriors. this is the new nba... collude and snake as much as possible, and the league will allow it because the warriors cruising to another victory would be bad for ratings.

He's a shell of what he was due to injuries, though I thought he did better than expected in Charlotte.

I do think his career as a whole gets underrated these days though. He was really good in Orlando and a lot of analytics guys thought he deserved the 2011 MVP over both Rose and Lebron for leading a pretty bad supporting cast to 52 wins. His biggest issue IMO had nothing to do with softness and everything to do with never developing as much of a post game as he should have combined with the injuries.

Brendan Hayward, who lives in Charlotte, said that people in the organization were openly cheering when the trade was announced. Also said his teammates to a man disliked him. Said, Charlotte was willing to eat bad money just to get the cancer out of the locker room.

His locker room issues were a "known" thing even during his prime years 2008-2012

yep, he's been a cancer at every stop. They hated him in Orlando. Harden hated him in Houston. Kobe couldn't stand him in LA.


So much of a cancer that even the Nets just bought him out.


Really interesting to see who signs him. Can't imagine anyone with a brain would want him near their team, but he looks like a greek god and he still puts up impressive (selfish) numbers.

This article does a pretty good job of explaining what happened to Howard’s personal life which certainly factored into his career. After reading it, it seemed clear he was all talk in terms of redemption.
