I bet the Bulls could’ve beat Dallas’ offer but Atlanta didn’t know if Young would be there at #7 because Orlando had a need for a point guard. Is what it is.

"carter's NBA comparisons are juwan howard and al horford.... is anyone disappointed with those names?" - bill wennington.

yeah everyone's touting the company line here.... even schuster saying it's the right pick. porter jr is the intriguing pick but this is the RIGHT pick.

this feels like the mid-00s original tryhard bulls all over again. it'd be hilarious if lavine leaves via restricted free agency.

Could've jumped to 4. Dallas gave up half what I thought it would take.

He is cool but he was the consolation prize for me.

we sucked for a year and traded our best player...but heres some random duke guy

He will be good. It’s underwhelming but he has a high floor.

Orlando would’ve taken Young. Atlanta and Dallas was a great trade match.

He’s better defensively than Boozer but how would that be a bad comp? Boozer was a good player and had a good career. At his best he was an All Star.

I think some forget Cleveland/Utah Boozer and just remember the Bulls version

i think it's the confluence of the whole "consolation prize" feel to the tanking/pick/etc. boozer came shortly after a wade/bosh sandwich's immanency was a relevant topic that we lamentably didn't stick with.

i'd pop if michael porter jr used a walker or cane to get up to the stage.

swirsky: "if michael porter jr was that hot of a commodity... where is he now? you've had two teams pass on him after you.... maikel bridges is going next.... the clippers have two picks.... they want to make some noise... they can afford to let him have a redshirt year!"

jesus christ almighty ~20mins after your big draft pick you're still talking about the guy you didn't draft. lol.

Fair point.

If Carter turns out to be Boozer this was a great pick though.

Nope. Bridges fits in way better and he doesn’t have half his body broken.

Provides outside shooting (compensates for Simmons) and plays defense

It’s unlikely but Zhaire Smith and DiVincenzo are my top two wish list guys next for the bulls. Either at 22 or with a small trade up.

I was talking health wise. Teams are going to regret not taking him.

Just like Minnesota and Milwaukee with Embiid.

Already soured on both guys taken ahead of him. They have access to the medicals so it must be something in there that is scary.

I missed our favorite Bulls insider assuring us of the rigor of GarPax's evaluation process earlier tonight

Dan Bernstein @dan_bernstein
Hearing #Bulls have been deliberate and thorough in assessing Porter medicals. I will not be surprised if they pass due to a thumbs-down from doctors.

A broken back and hip on a 19 year old 6’10” qualifies as scary imo.
