Signing either of those guys to minimum deals is a no-risk move. I have no problem with it at all.

Minimum contracts we're talking guys. Not trading for them and their current salaries. A Luol Deng or Joakim Noah playing 10 minutes a game and providing valuable veteran mentoring isn't the worst thing.

Deng is under contract with the Lakers tho, right?

Both are under contract and both are candidates for buyouts.

I know Deng has vocalized that he really wants to play. Now with the Lakers transitioning to a competitive team, he might get minutes with them and rescind his unofficial request for a trade.

Noah seems fine collecting paychecks without playing.

Would Luol have to give up his free ~18mil that the Lakers owe him? I would pull a Melo there if i was Based Deng.

Otherwise, sheeeeeeeit, Thibbs must really have loved his Bulls team to recreate them in Minnesota ~5yrs later/older. I guess there's a certain way you do things on a Thibodeau team, eh?

Edit: I forgot that Joakim's money is even freer than Luol's. I wonder how much they'd give up to be bought out, as you figure it'd have to be 100% - this year's salary - future earning potential cuz I can't see either of them getting anywhere close to the $$$ they're owed (especially Joakim)

I saw something where Deng would give back $7.3M. Why would he?

He wants to play basketball. If he goes two more years without playing, he is done. No more chances at contracts.

If he performs well enough this year on a minimum deal, he can maybe get a contract for the next couple of years at $8M a year.

No he can't. He is destined to play out the rest of his career on minimum dough.

And if I am Deng do I want to go and play for the guy that is most to blame for destroying my career?

Thibs legacy as a player personnel guy will be signing former Bulls guys that no one else wants. Oh yeah and that he "discovered" Draemond Green

Must not be if people on here are celebrating the potential arrival of Luol Deng. The Wolves watch is all but dead now that true Wolves fans like Bagels have departed the stage. Even the Thibs bashing is a tad anti-climactic at this point.

Not sure what Noah can do. Like Butler he doesn't exactly seem like the teaching type. Luol helped Butler and maybe he can do the same with Wiggins.

I like both players but I just don't know if either (particularly Noah) has anything left. Its eerie the rumors that seem to surround former players that played for Thibs. Are those the only guys in the league that he happens to be familiar with? Sure seems that way.

It's official, Deng to Wolves

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24635940/luol-deng-agrees-one-year-deal-minnesota-timberwolves

He'll be in the starting lineup before December.

Magic must've promised Deng his own ghetto grocery, starbucks, movie theater strip mall for that sort of change.
