Non WC soccer other than the tournaments just end in ties. Rankings are points based (similar to group stage), 3 for win, 1 for tie.

What is worse is when it’s obvious that’s what a team is playing for. Don’t know what the solution is but the potential to end a WC with a shootout.. not good.

I think that’s pretty lame too. Even a low scoring sport should play til someone wins. I don’t see what’s so hard about that.

It was great that they got those bad vibes of the past done away with.

Seems like 1/5 games at the WC are great. The rest are snoozefests for the most part, especially when you have teams like Russia playing to tie.

That said, my Red Devils of Belgium are a lot of fun to watch and their game vs Japan was phenomenal. Even included the rare soccer buzzer beater game winner. Haven't seen one of those since Man City needed one to win their first EPL title a few years back.


Looking forward to the Final Four of Belgium vs Brazil and Uruguay vs France. Over on the NIT side of the bracket, who gives a fuck all those teams suck.
