I think working with Mully pretty much killed any inclination he had to give a fuck.

So Hanley gets to work only two days per week and make the same amount of money? And sleep in to boot.

More 87.7-ing of the Score. DeCastro has his vision of what sports radio should be. He tried it at 87.7, and he's hell bent on believing was that the only reason was dial position (even though 87.7's current music format way outdraws the sports format). So he's bringing everybody he really liked over. First McDoink, now Haugh.

I've always liked Hanley on the radio. I thought less of him as a beat reporter.

Rosenbloom and Hanley on the weekends could be a lot of fun. Maybe they'll go that way, and maybe Hanley's just on the bench for a while until Bernstein's contract is up.

Any thoughts on a Hanley / Bernstein pairing? I know it would require getting rid of a favored radioson McKnight.

This is a terrible move, but weren't there rumors about Hanley wanting to retire soon?

I'm Doug Gottlieb with a CFMB Sports Minute. They say the more things change, the more they stay the same, but I'm not sure the same can be said for this recent change. With the departure of Chicago radio legend Brian Hanley from WSCR, mornings are going to be different on the AM dial. And Kirkwood's posts will be different without being able to rate bad jokes as being worth two and a half Hanleys. Always a welcome commentary, the Hanley scale was a light-hearted post that lent feelings of good natured humor in what can be a very argumentative and high-strung, irascible environment at the message board. However, we must come to terms that all good things end at some point... with that I wish to give Mr. Brian Hanley and the Hanley scale a departing five out of five Hanleys. I'm Doug Gottlieb.

Poor Hanley

This is the only correct answer.

Haugh is the worst person on Chicago radio. If he is on from 5-9 and McKnight follows, that would pretty much kill this station for me.

I for one never liked this show. Neither Mully nor Hanley seemed to have any insight into anything or any interesting opinions on anything. The experience of listening to this show is like the experience of walking up to your cousin at a 4th of July picnic and hearing an answer to the question "How about those Cubs?" I always felt the show was a throwback to the way the Score used to sound about 15 years ago when Mike North still ruled the airwaves. Either you like this type of show or you like the Dan Bernstein/Matt Spiegel/Danny Parkins approach to sports radio. I much prefer the Bernstein style to the Mully and Hanley style.

Also, it will be nice to have somewhere to go for sports radio in the morning now. Golic and Wingo are equally as awful as Mully and Hanley just for different reasons.

I like sports radio that either provides an interesting well-thought-out perspective or instigates the listeners enough to spur some good conversation. Mully and Hanley do neither. Any change on that program would be good change as far as I'm concerned.

ESPN should hire him and pair him with Jurko.

Big deal. Terry Boers of 1993 could be paired with Mulligan and it'd still be unlistenable compared to almost anything but Golic and Wingo.

Hanley is a solid professional host. You need someone like that for an early morning show. He's better than Parkins or McKnight.

Haugh is a little too bland. If you're going to go Haugh then it seems like David Kaplan should be joining the show.

Hanley and Rosenbloom or Hanley and Rozner will likely be the future weekend pairing.

They had Mully on from London today I think. Sounded like a goodbye.

They were interviewing Cowley and he signed off with some very nice words about Hanley. Brian then addressed the fact that he is leaving at the end of the month.

Yet somehow I don’t think you’ll see him go on social media crying about how mistreated he was .

That's shady as hell. He's been there what, 25 years? Give him the courtesy of a face to face and a handshake.

https://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/mull ... nley-show/

last 2 minutes of hour 3 of today's podcast. cowley caught them off-guard with his farewell to brian comments at the end of the cowley interview.

hanley's open statement after cowley hung up... "the one things thats been constant here since change in ownership is... change... and this show is not immune to it... apparently"
