i think bernsie/holmes, bernsie/hood would both be really good. midday or afternoon.
i think there is really no reason to break up hanley/mully.
mac and spiegs is fine imo. its safe and decent.
i think goff could take that 6-9 spot and basically run amock.

david haugh isn't that interesting enough to listen to 5 days a week. as a guest he's fine.

I think we can all agree, thank god theres no barry rosner.

Bernstein/Holmes would be insufferable. Too much geeky comic book and hip hop music talk. Then Holmes would try to show everyone how he is more cultured than Bernstein resulting in a boring restaurant discussion. No thanks.

Bernstein/Rosner was always my #1 choice after Boers retired. Actually, I preferred Rosner to Boers over the last 5 years anyways.

As long as no one is making a case for him to be in the marriage Hall of Fame, not really.

I'd have gone

5-9: Mully and Hanley
9-noon: Holmes and Goff (apparently this was something DeCastro thought about doing before firing Jason instead, but can we ever really take Jason at his word?)
noon-3: Bernstein
3-7: Mac and Parkins
7-10: Spiegel
10-mid: whatever
mid-5: Grobber

Yeah, probably, but what they have now is worse, and at least it would have quieted the baying hounds who think Jimmy DeCastro is a white supremacist for booting a guy who was killing afternoons.

5-9: Mully and Hanley - Agreed
9-noon: Holmes and Goff - I don't hate this. It retains existing contracts and safely puts them in a non-drive slot.
noon - 3: Bernstain.....same as the earlier, but he has to have a co-host.
3-7: Mac and Parkins
7-10: Spiegel - Same as Bernstein, co-host needed.

The powerhouse days? GTFO with that!

Nothing from ratings to profitability to cultural relevance support that opinion

If Murph anywhere would a ratings bonanza, he wouldn't be where he is now.

He is grating. He is terrible. He is lucky to be on the air for 3 hours once a week as it is.

He almost died and now is in his mid 60s. That is why he is where he is now.

Ratings history favors Murph.

It is interesting after hearing from insiders on this site that Sir was a dork known for having boring sausage parties now is the hero of the aging young guys like Goff and drinky.

I seem to remember those guys making fun of Sir regularly on their show back when they used to do weekends.

something has to cut through his smarm. and maybe being solo softens that smarm?

but i could see it if you give him producers and update people who can talk regularly.

Bernstein and Holmes would be a decent listen middays. Leery has always seemed to be able to hold his own with Dan and not get sucked into Dan's vortex of influence. Like Goff, McDoink falls into the Bernsie-sycophant mode.

It’s all about proving a point - very obvious.
I like listening to Bernstein. I always felt Dan could be a national superstar if he ever wanted that. He’s the best in business. The difficulties in working with him were merely annoying at worst and far from some of the experiences I encountered with Murph or have heard about other guys in the business.
Hanley being removed is a terrible move by Jimmy but I’m sure his team on the morning show fought against it.
The Score has had 3 periods - 1. the beginning and initial growth
2. The powerhouse days anchored by @RealTerryBoers and @dan_bernstein
3. The DeCastro Destruction
Maybe @McNeil_Parkins can set the over/under on when Jimmy leaves?
4. ?

Love how the "Powerhouse days" just happen to coincide when he was producing for B&B

These young Score dudes who have left sure hold themselves in high regards. These Cats are too much....

I don't think Jimmy cares about a few dozen people on Twitter.

Agree and agree. What is amazing is that anyone enjoys Rozner. I damn near puked reading his article on Jim Riggleman......somehow that guy got a raw deal along the way. The dude walked out on the Nationals mid-season. Hard to feel sorry for him. But Barry does.

The "Powerhouse" days of the Score really had little to do with on air content or producers. McNeil was fired from ESPN which was the real reason behind B&B getting some ratings.

Yeah, I was thinking Grote as an uncredited co-host/update guy.

HOLY SHIT NO. He's never worse than when he's with Dan. I've even stopped calling him Leery because he hasn't been co-hosting with Dan and turning into an unctuous lickspittle like he used to.

B&B had caught up with and often beat MJH before Mac was shown the door.

This is just not true, MJH was winning that slot, which is what made Mac's dismissal such a shock and also the reason why 670 was so quick to pick him up.

MJH started slowly, then kicked B&B’s butts for a couple of years and then were caught and often surpassed. It was neck and neck for many months so it was a shock when Mac was let go. Mac is a proven commodity but MANY on this board forget about the return of B&B.

The return?

Score programming has all of the tailwinds in this competition. When B and B started, ESPN was pulling below 1 in ratings. It didn't take long before ESPN surpassed them and then continued to surpass them. I do think there was some up and back at the end but B and B was never a show that never dominated the ratings even among other Score shows and regularly lost listeners from its lead in show.

Well it was nice to have two shows worth listening to instead of now where there are periods when neither station has a compelling option. I leaned MJH, but like many, I found Harry to be a waste of space.

Wasn't it the conflict between Mac and Harry that drove the show?
