Or been there?

My sister is trying to convince me to move there to help her with her business.

I know its hot and humid but that s what AC is for.

Plus/Minus?

You should pay more based on your risk of damaging hurricanes.

i thought that was a once in a lifetime thing wasn't it?

I know it's cheaper to live there and no state tax. Food is supposedly good.

I know people that live in Houston, and one that just moved away.

Good place to live when oil&gas and manufacturing is strong. Not a great place to live during economic downturns.

I don't know that I'd leave Hawaii but being by family is great. You think it would be a good?

Probably the caller that 'invited' Bernstein over to Hegwisch to see what would happen if Dan did so.

Houston is a very weird city. No zoning laws, lots of flooding everywhere. But when the petrochemical economy is rolling, you can make a lot of money. But unless you are upper middle class or better, prepare to be perpetually depressed.

I spent the last two weeks of July for work there a few years ago. The high temperature was 100+ each and every day, and it’s not a dry heat down there.

At least they had the foresight to build some roads over the years to anticipate the growth, so traffic isn’t quite as horrible as around Chicago. Cost of living isn’t too bad.

Still would never live there.

Traffic blows in Houston. I thought it was NYC level bad. I would drive the Kennedy daily over having to drive in Houston again.

If you go to Houston, take swimming lessons. It appears a bunch of morons decided to build homes in a flood zone there without consulting FEMA maps. They then cry for government bailouts and aid when the predictable happens.

Move to Luchenbach, or Galveston. Better songs.

These are the questions/factors you consider before considering moving almost 4000 miles? Hey, at least the food is supposedly good.
You might want to consider what they have on TV in Houston as compared to Hawaii as well.

There are likely more Samoan crackheads in Houston than there are in Hawaii, so that's a plus.
