That reminds me...considering it's in Texas, HawaiiYoo might want to look in to how the gay community is accepted there...or may just want to consider progressive Austin, instead.

Actually don’t move here.

It is 10:45 at night, I am sitting in my front yard, and the heat index is about 99.

Fuck this shit.

do you like living there? how long you been there? cost of living is pretty reasonable? for instance, say you worked at walmart, would that be enough income to live there?

Yes.

11 of last 12 years

Cost of living to be near central Houston is better than say, Bay Area. No income tax so if you can game it to minimize propert tax, it would be beneficial.

Nobody working at Wal Mart for less then 50 hours can live anywhere, Houston or otherwise.

I would suggest signing up with Monster, USA Jobs, etc. to see what is available.

I would look at San Antonio as well. Plenty of jobs with Lackland AFB so close.

I believe Houston is closer to the ocean. Houston is 3 hours east of SA so there might not be much of a difference in weather. What type of average weather are you looking for?

Three weekend of the month on average me and the family are on the island.

75 minutes door to door...

I have no idea about SA weather. Worked there for one summer, 4 months consecutive, was wasted the whole time, barely remember the airport.

Also, to use an analogy that you might know.

Hawaii beaches are Jacqueline Smith, Galveston beaches are toothless crack hoes.

Galveston Island, barrier island, 75 minutes from where I sit to rum on the beach.

Lots of Houston money with property on the island. Think like Lake Geneva or the Michigan coast of Lake Michigan, lots of Chicago money in need of a second house.

Look HY, I have been to New Orleans a dozen times or so, but if you want a One Post review of all these cities, I need some money.

Here is what I can say about New Orleans, it is the one city in America that smells the same in 2018 as it did in 1818.

Thanks TP, needed this. No lie, I took the dogs for a walk tonight and got lost at a bar for 2 hours.

Mrs. Post was certainly pissed about that, so I am glad someone got some LOLs out of me.

ok, lets get back on track, Houston.

Do you regret moving there? or do you like it? Seems like it'll be the #3 city in a few years of population. Must be a reason why ppl are moving there. I'm looking to live a simple life there where I can do one job that can earn me enough to live. not looking for tons of money but something like working in say an oil industry job or utility job or gov job.

added : does your wife like it there?

Well no regrets, met my wife here, started my family here, have great friends here, enjoy the city.

This city is projected to pick up 250-500k people in the next 5 years. This is a city that is pulsating with money and growth.

This is not a sleepy city. It is a working town, but not “simple”.

Oil jobs are in West Texas or Louisiana, this is a intellectual economy, and the med center will further drive it in that direction.

ok. so medicine is big there? that pretty much leaves me out as I don't have any background in that field. but i'm sure there are more opportunities there as say vs chicago. at least they don't rape you w/ the taxes like in illinois.

i'd like to visit one day. just to check it out.

how much does a 1 or 2 bd in a middle class neighborhood go for there? or a small condo ?

Well let’s get on the same footing. Do you want to live in “Houston” like “Chicago” or do you consider Oswego to be part of Chicago.
