I saw this on CBS sports today...interesting, although I’m not sure why OKC would do this.

Restricted free agent forward Jabari Parker and the Chicago Bulls are progressing on a deal, league sources tell ESPN. Discussions over a number to topics still ongoing.

Can confirm Bulls are on verge of signing Jabari Parker. As of now, Bulls don't know if Bucks are renouncing him or they'll need to sign him to offer sheet. Either way, it's close.

Well that doesn't make it sound like the Bucks are interested in matching.

I don't hate it if they are trying to field a team of Chicago guys, and have the end game of luring Anthony Davis in a couple of years. A nice young core does nothing without the superstar, and I don't see a path to a superstar who would potentially sign here other than him.

Whenever you can sign a guy with two ACL surgeries before the age of 25 to an 80 million dollar deal it is a must.

Signing Parker means they have no interest in winning a championship, right?

@MarkSchanowski

Bulls obviously confident Parker can play the SF spot & not willing to gamble on hoarding cap space for 2019 when so many teams will have cap space to make max contract offers

Wrong.

Dunn
Lavine
Parker
Markkanen
Carter Jr

Is a very enticing starting five. Add guys like Valentine, Portis, and Lopez in there and you have a competitive team in the East. Goes a long way to attracting a major FA next summer.

they're not attracting shit in free agency and their guards cant score. having guards who cant score in this nba is a bit of a problem. they're not going to be able to sign klay thompson so forget it.

(to be fair lavine is even worse at defense than he is at scoring)

Lavine can score on pretty much anybody. Dunn was also pretty good at it before smashing his face into the floor of the court last year. They’re fine offensively. You’re comparing them to GS and Houston, not the entire league.

I find the Klay love funny. He’s a great player and I’d want him on my team but he’s not AD, Kyrie, Kawhi, etc.

I don't know about that; is he still athletic enough to stay with other SFs?

Yeah it might be too much stress on those senior citizen knees of his.

Him Markkanen and Carter can definitely play together.

Position isn’t the question. It’s his health and if he will improve on defense. He will score at any spot.

A simple no would have sufficed.

No it wouldn’t have, because the answer is yes. Keep up.

Looks like this is only a 2 year $40 million deal. Not even sure if the second year is guaranteed.

Two year deal wouldn't be that bad. Only time for one more torn ACL.

May be an injury clause in there like LaVine’s deal. Gotta wait and see.

I agree. This may totally blow up in their faces but they’ve tried the “open cap and sign major free agent” route along with the “tank for a high draft pick” route with minimal success. Now they’ve opted for the “sign young talented but injured players” route. They’re banking that modern medicine saves the day. We’ll see.
