Indeed and we pay twice as much as the next closest country for this health care system. It is sad.

Maybe people shouldn't be so unbelievably unhealthy.

That’s the cultural aspect I referred to. It is part of the problem.

Let’s put Trump in charge of death panels. We’d all have to fall in line, comrades.

At some point a miniscule tax on equity trades will have to become a reality. Volume has got to be 10-15x what it was 25-30 years ago. And is ridiculously more haphazard imo.

And we're going to have to address the Pentagon and it's historically amazing ability to avoid audit.

I believe the EU finally instituted a trade tax. I could see that happening packaged as a way to reduce high frequency trading.

Defense spending is out of control. But many think we need to police the world. I am an isolationist on military matters and frankly a pacifist. My policy would be, attack only when attacked. I would have leveled Afghanstian (the Taliban) and left it in ruins. No way I would have gone after Saddam.

You level the Taliban, I doubt North Korea would even try to launch a missle our way.

The problem with the tax the rich folks is will never be enough. The left never believes an idea of theirs ever fails. They think they were not allowed to do enough.

Reader mentioned audit defense. Fair enough but audit all the left little pet pork as well.

What if I told you I fully agree with you on healthcare. What if I said I could guarantee 99% political support and certain passage of the Curious Hair Health Act. This would guarantee carte blanche care free for all people in the US. citizens or not. No question asked.

Would you take that? What if I said the only thing is you can not have one more dime in tax revenue than the country now takes in.

Could you sell that program?

Well, guess that's the end of the left's love affair with Ocasio-Cortez, she doesn't want to destroy (((The Neocolonialist Menace)))

You won't get an argument from me. I ran a local school council for 8 years. I refused to spend 90% of the money I was budgeted except for school supplies the teachers needed. And then had a great degree of scrutiny of the budgets I had to sign off on. I just cleared the road for the many good teachers. And watched the school's ratings soar.

Within 6 weeks of my leaving, there was a new principal and really stupid big ticket items being purchased.

You can pretty much say that about the complete top to bottom spending in the US government. This is why I think that what was called the Penny Plan was entirely in order. The PResident should order each of the Federal agencies to reduce their budget by one cent on each dollar. Let them take the money from wherever they want to but take it out of their budget. The next year do the same and so on.

You champion Ronald Reagan, who increased Gov't spending by billions, in one thread and then turn around and talk about reducing spending by 1% in every single department during every fiscal year in another.

You're a joke.

Thanks Frank. BTW I still am waiting for your response on another post that you "Lol"ed me on. Reagan increased spending on defense to return the US military to its proper size and shape. Truly a great president who rescued the country from the Carter malaise:)

The subject BTW was out of control spending, and taking one percent out of the budget or the Penny Plan, the federal deficit would be cut down to nothing in like 7-8 years and not hurt anything. Department heads would have the choice to cut where they knew the fat was at and all would be good.

I find it amusing how often I see her front and center on Fox news at this point. She won a dem primary to be in the house of reps in a district that goes Dem no matter what. Doesn't exactly seem newsworthy. I fully acknowledge she is a twit, completely idealist, will have to compromise many of her promises if she were to actually do anything. But that is kinda of the point the house of reps.

oh, and would.

Hey Frank, that wasn't your stupid post that I referred to. Still awaiting for you to stop your silly Lols. What a dim wit you are.

I guess you should stop your own charade and admit that you are Frank Coztansa. Between the two of you, there isn't enough grey matter to equip a worm.

Sure there are. They are called Trump hating RINOS like John McCain and his fellow twit senator from Arizona.

As would be expected from a Socialist, basic concepts such as our unemployment rate confuse her...

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter ... unts-abou/

Can we send the Bernie Bros home and let the people who actually understand Capitalism (you know, the system that is ending global poverty) continue to run our booming economy?

Don't worry, once they seize the means of production, starvation and famine usually sets in.

Socialists have never been able to effectively deal with the concept of economic scarcity.

Funny you invoke that phrase: I read an interesting essay yesterday about the new wave of "socialists" and their lack of interest in seizing the means of production.

The Socialist Network: Are today’s young, Bernie-inspired leftist intellectuals really just New Deal liberals?

To which the answer is "I mean yeah, pretty much." Today's conservatives and libertarians have shifted the window so far to the right that "Franklin Roosevelt had good ideas" is considered radical leftism. Reinforcing our safety net and, infrastructurally speaking, taking care of our shit is not really socialism, but it gets people talking, for better or worse.

Funny you say that, NPR was interviewing DSA members on today's Morning Edition:

https://www.npr.org/2018/07/19/63039466 ... ow-the-dsa

Skip to 1:50 for the 1st person calling to seize the means of production.

Then 30 seconds later the DSA's National Director says "we want the bakery, we want to control it all"

It's not really booming, though.

It is, GDP is growing at 3-4% right now (remember when we were told 5 years ago 1-2% was the "new normal"), wages are up nearly 3%, and unemployment is ~4%

That is a booming economy. Move out of Illinois and you'll truly see it.
