This. He was done 25 years ago, the HFC kicked his ass, he left for New York and was never the same. By 1999 he was reduced to doing pregame on Fox Sports Chicago for a horrible Hawks team. The nostalgia run on both stations is cool during the deadest sports week of the year, but no one wants to hear Chet biovlate about Robert Marvin Hull.

The evidence of Chet being anti semitic is that he called Bernstein a jew and when asked to spell Jewish, replied M-O-N-E-Y

That's the list, right?

He left Bernstein a bunch of insane voice mails. I remember people saying Dan played one or two on the air, but I've never heard them.

Yea, that's the legend. Im pretty sure he just called him a Jew.

It's not polite, but its not quite Mel Gibson either.

I am sure it wasn't in the greatest tone or context. On its own though calling someone a Jew is not a problem if they are.

depends on tone and context like you said.

Time is running out on the checkmarks to get Chet's shift taken away.

is that it, or did he say something else as part of a diatribe of sorts?

I don't think I've ever even heard the guy on the air. If it pisses of Jules and her twitter knights then I'm all for him being on.

For me, listening to him is more of a nostalgia thing. Before the Score, The Sportwriters and Coppock were the two sports programs I remember listening to. For some reason, Coppock loved having Brendan Malone on almost every week.

For all of his damn craziness and bad decisions, Chet (and Mac as his producer) got me through my dissertation research. I'd listen to the first two hours in the office, then go for a drive and pick up dinner during hour number 3, and be back and crank through Larry King on Mutual until the Steve and Gary re-broadcast.

Brendan Malone, Brendon Suhr, Johnny Bach, Dale Brown, a young Michael Ray Wilbon from St. Ignatius talking about the NFL, Terry Boers, Jeff Torborg. On and on and on. And a gift certificate to Bigsby and Kruthers for being on the show.

It was a good show by any measure. What was it, 90 minutes? chock full of Chicago sports talk. good stuff. My favorite guy: Joel Bierig.

I used to listen to chet when I was grounded on Friday nights in high school (which happened all too often). It is where I became familiar with Dangerous Dan Mc Neil from Chet's Friday Night Fights segment. I hated Dan back in those days.

Have the show on now a while as the score went Cubs. It is as I remember it not different at all. Ok as background noise.

I remember my dad having Chet on in the car when we'd leave the Rosemont Horizon after WWF shows back in the late 80's, and you'd get a call from Lanny Poffo or Randy Savage if you were lucky.

Chet had Denis Savard on. Known for spinnarama. I believe he was in on savvy frozen pizzas. Denis Savard as Blackhawks coach was classic blubbering during post game press conferences about how he feels bad for the organ-eye-zation, and how the current players don't respect the Indian Head. He'd actually be near tears.

Which is why it is best he was whacked 4 games into the season back in 08.
