No, those songs have the most musicality.

Hard most of the time does not equate to good music.

Communication Breakdown is rudimentary.

Jimmy Page was a wiccan. How do you justify your passion for Led Zeppelin when their creative lead was a cultist and possible satanist?

Well, he also happens to be probably the greatest guitarist that ever lived. This thread is about putting forth your views of their best songs.

I can separate Page's musicianship from whatever religious orientation he has. But if you want to talk about that, I never said he was a saint. Page wasn't the only musician from the 60s and 70s that dabbled in the occult. The Beatles read Aleister Crowley, as did Page. In fact, how the Beatles posed on the cover of "Help" comes from Crowley's "Magic: In Theory and Practice", which most people don't even know. The Stones, too, were like this with their album, "Their Satanic Majesties Request." featuring Mick Jagger dressed as a wizard. I think all these musicians fancied themselves as magicians, and that is what Page went for, too, tapping into his inner genius to fuel his creativity. But he envisioned himself as "The Hermit" of the Tarot, which is an enlightened spiritual figure. It encapsulates the archetypes of both beauty (Tipereth) and mercy or lovingkindness (Chesed) in human form. The illustration of "The Hermit" is similar to the "Light of the World" painting by Hunt, which portrays Jesus.

Yeah, he's my guy at the very least, Jimi > Jimmy.

Also, according to MANY things that Dan Bernstein has said over the years, we support child rape. Jimmy Page had a 15-16 year old girlfriend for a few years in the 70s. Penny Lane from Almost Famous is loosely based on her. The airplane storm scene along with the "I am a golden god" scene are based on real Zeppelin tour happenings.

No one improvised so magnificently as Page did live. The richness of his music comes from incorporating different styles, including rock, folk, Celtic, blues, classical and even country (Hot Dog).

Nobody played as sloppy live as Page did at times, either. Especially during certain '75 shows and almost all '77 shows.

And even then, Jimi > Jimmy.

My personal view of Crowley is that, while being highly intelligent and a good chess player for having drew against one of Britain's best players at the time in Blackburne in a simul, he was sexually perverse and a fraud of a magician. He was kicked out of the original Golden Dawn for being a lunatic and could have not attained the Ippsissimus grade, which equates to "The Fool" of the Tarot. It denotes someone who has assimilated the Spirit of Ether. To be a magician at all, one has to achieve Gnosis, which is represented by Daath (knowledge) on the Tree of Life of the Qaballah. That is not possible without being righteous, which Crowley was not, which is necessary to receive the "Spirit of Wisdom" or the "Spirit of Truth". That is because the Spirit chooses you and not you it. When that happens, you have effectively assimilated the World Soul and can perform magic. This is what Goethe's Faust was trying to do in the Night Scene, but failed. The Spirit even gives Faust an explanation for his failure, "You’re like the Spirit that you understand. Not me!". That is because the Spirit embodies the eternal righteous light, the first light God created in Genesis. As Faust failed, so, too, would Crowley have failed for not being pure and righteous. The Spirit would have had nothing to do with him at all.

If Page was seeking truth in Crowley's writings, he was seriously misled.

Thank you, Frank. Truth.

Big difference between "Best" and "Favorite". Best would have to be "Stairway". It's a masterpiece and a display of what made Zeppelin amazing....even though, I'm also quite burned out on Zep and struggle to listen to them very often.

Favorite?
Houses Of the Holy
Good Times Bad Times
Ramble On
When the Levee Breaks
