So when its cold, Hawk doesnt have to do play by play or color? I guess that is a good thing.

Or when he's mad or when it's a blow out either way. I've noticed DJ doing the 7th, 8th, and 9th during blow outs. Hawk usually does the top and bottom 3 innings. DJ is basically Hawk's bitch. Hawk makes him do play by play when he doesn't want to do it.

Hawk will always do the 8th and 9th when it's close. He wants to make the exciting calls.

While you don't truly know me, I agree. I consider it kind of like an IDOT project, 25% of the work was done this year. Hopefully Phase II begins next off season.

I still love Hawk and I've been a Sox fan since the early 70's. DJ has gotten better but Hawk still does it for me. He's a homer I know but I love the baseball conversation he has. I love all the odd things about baseball and it never bores me. My favorite announcer ever is the 70's (and drunk w/ Jimmy P) Harry Carray but Hawk is just fine in my book. And I think most Sox fans still love Hawk. I hate Farmer with a passion but i have to admit he is ALMOST tollerable with Stoney.

Here a good thing about Hawk. Something Kasper doesn't have. A lot of announcers don't have it.

He makes exciting calls at the big moments. He captures it well. If it's a Sox game winning homer or base hit. Or if the Sox get that last out in the ninth with the tieing run in scoring position. He has a dramatic, well delivered call at those moments.

Yeah, he does. Kasper goes into that "kermit the frog" voice when the Cubs hit a big HR or something. "Put it on the Board" is a trademark call that will forever live with the Sox.

And like him or not, he has come up with other trademark phrases- Grab some bench, he gone, hiney bird, gaaasss, etc.

It's more than just "put it on the board" however. And I do like that call.

Guy on second, tie score in the ninth, and a single is hit. He does that well. Hawk gears up that call very well.

I'll try to paraphrase the Crede hit the other day that won the game vs the Yanks.

Hawk - Line shot. Base hit!!! You gotta go!!!! Here's the throw...it's off line...Safe!!!! Sox win!!!!

It was a great call. He does it all the time at those moments. He just has a good voice and builds the drama for those moments nicely with his delivery.
