Same amount of proof that Bonds and Sosa have. They never tested positive.

But the fact that Thome grew to a beast just like Sosa and Bonds is my proof. But he's white and is nice to the media. So he gets into the HOF.

Plus he played for teams that no one covers.

The Milkman notwithstanding. As wonderful of a human as Thome seems to be, if you look at the photos in his early 20s and compare to his late 20s, he is Bondsesque. He did the same thing all of them did in that era. I didn’t see ceremony today but I’ll put money on his head having shrunk.

Yeah, and I think pretty much that entire Cleveland lineup was gassed to the gills. But that's the real problem with this moralistic viewpoint regarding letting certain guys in and keeping out others. We really don't know who did what. So either you have to go on the numbers or just keep grudges against certain guys because of who they are. I don't know how you let Thome in and keep Sosa out.

He's never been linked to them, and even when he was thinner, he was still a big guy. Look even at Frank Thomas as rookie--one huge dude--but eight years later, he was considerably larger.

Sosa, A-Rod, Clemens and the like have been linked to them.

Indeed. No matter what team he was playing for at the time, the Peoria Journal Star had a daily "Thome Watch" in the sports section. It detailed everything he did the day or night before and was current on his lifetime stats regularly.

Frank was ripped as a rookie. He was an Auburn tight end. He was outspoken in advocating testing. Thome was a skinny rookie who had not a word to say about testing. Damn nice guy though. 613 HR during the steroid era. Frank had 512.

I assume Thome juiced. Why wouldn't I. Canseco said 75% of guys juiced. Why wouldn't they. I would. Generational wealth is involved. For chrissake, Tiger juiced. There will always be fancy chemists trying to stay ahead of the curve and clients looking for an edge. EPO ain't cheap and the agents used to mask it aren't either. Here's food for thought. MLB only keeps samples for a specific period of time. They can't go back to a 5 year old sample and retest(as testing technology progresses and tries to keep up with the fancy chemists) as they do with Olympic athletes and cyclists. Can you imagine MLB suspending Mike Trout for a sample from his rookie year? It would be horrible for the game. But if you want PEDs gone, that's what you have to do.
