So they’re not as bad as the Browns, were in some close losses and can’t get any worse than they have been for the last several years are reasons for optimism. You’re a glass is half full guy which is admirable.

He’s a Saints fan trying to give his Chicago brothers some hope. I can see that.

If I know Z as a sports fan he’s currently constructing all the different scenarios in which his title contending Saints miss the playoffs this year.

Payton’s resume says they slide back, but that team wants to win bad. Maybe they can overcome his inability to ride his team.

I like Nagy and that’s the only reason I can find for optimism regarding the Bears. A good coach makes a world of difference. There’s nothing special or beyond mediocre about the roster talent though.

On paper the Bears have a lot of talent on offense. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is the biggest question mark. On defense Fangio has been able to make chicken salad despite not having an elite player and with a ton of injuries. All around the Bears arrow is pointing up.

The only known talent on offense going into the season is Howard. The QB is definitely an unknown, the top WR is coming off a major injury and the TE was a 3rd stringer that is presumed to be good because he was on the Patriots...despite the fact that they let him go.

Come on man. Let’s at least argue in good faith here. Burton was not a third stringer, was on the Eagles, and was very good when he played. Robinson is good when healthy. He’s a known talent.

I was wrong about the team but he was the 3rd string tight end (4 years into the league btw)
I also never said Robinson wasn’t talented, just that he is coming off a major injury.

That could be enough for them to shock the league. Either way this team should be fun to watch.

Vikings win 14 games this regular season, on their way to winning the Super Bowl.

I could see that. I would put my money on the Eagles or Rams representing the NFC.

There will always be a surprise team in the mix. I am not saying the Bears but there will be a surprise.

A coaching change is usually behind that. Look at what happened with the Eagles and Rams.

The Vikings were dangerous when they were winning with a minimum wage quarterbacks. Now that they are paying a mental midget like Cousins 30 million a year, Hell is coming to breakfast very soon for them.

The Eagles and Rams also had quarterbacks who lit the league on fire.

The Eagles did it with a rookie. The Rams did it with a 2nd year guy who struggled in his first season because of shitty coaching.

I know. Point is Wentz was the MVP and Goff wasn't far behind. Coaching matters but unless Mitch plays at close to an MVP this season, the Bears will not win the division.

No doubt. If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky sucks none of this matters. I saw enough flashes that I think he could be really good. Of course I also loved Rex Grossman more than his family did.

Wentz and the Eagles became good when he was a rookie. He took an MVP step last year.

The only thing the Vikings lacked last year was a good quarterback. Now they have one. They should win at least 12 games this season.

The biggest issue to me will be once again the offensive line and keeping (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky healthy. Hopefully the new O-line coach can make something good out of it but there are potential holes all over the line. I know that a shitty team cannot fix everything at once but the Bear's stupidity for not acquiring assets for the offensive line really has pissed me off.

They have a brutal schedule. Minn. will win the division going away. Detroit is meh so they could end up beating them out for 3rd with like a 7-9 or optimally 8-8 record. GB will not make the play-offs.

That was trolling. It was also proof that you could literally do a 180 and MANY may not notice as long as you're loud enough while doing the 180. I was considered his biggest fan despite knocking the guy up until the point I decided to love him.

Wentz was ok as a rookie but certainly not lighting the league on fire and 7-9 isn't very good.

Outside of the collarbone injury Rodgers hasn't missed a single game the last four seasons. Outside of two freak collarbone injuries he's been consistently healthy his entire career. This simply isn't a worry you're basing on anything factual. But yes, you're allowed to worry about anything.

I can't imagine breaking the same collarbone twice is a positive. I imagine that makes increases the odds for another break. He's missed 16 games in 5 years.

Another way to say it is he's missed 18 games in 10 seasons and 16 of them were because of two isolated injuries.

Neither of us is a doctor but google is all you need to disprove your second sentence.

It looks like Rodgers had a displaced fracture, which is why he had surgery. Clavicle surgery requires the insertion of a plate and screws into the injured area. That's what holds the bone together while it is healing. If Rodgers hasn't had the plate and screws removed via a second surgery, the possibility for re-injury to the area is elevated since there is a chance the hardware could pop out upon significant impact. Additionally, displaced fractures are typically slower to heal than simple/non-displaced fractures. People with displaced fractures can be more susceptible to re-injury if the clavicle was broken in multiple spots.

...a major injury that typically requires more than a year for complete recovery. Robinson didn't even start running until fairly recently and, by all accounts, has been outplayed by Miller at camp. Not a great sign for a guy carrying huge expectations. And Trey Burton only had about 25 receptions last year. So if he wasn't a third stringer on the rise, then may not be very good.
