Both great songs, cautionary tales. Which is better:

"Pusherman" - Curtis Mayfield

or

"The Pusher" - Steppenwolf

861 of those by Pusha T.

So far, only one person has voted for the wrong choice ... nice.

I'd flash my old CMayfield avatar if I hadn't crashed the hard drive on old computer. Pusherman by a thin leash straw.

You shouldn't call yourself an asswipe; it's not good for the ego.

At least one of your mults has voted with you now. :D

John's Tavern closed a while back, right?

Did you know Curtis Mayfield once had a record label, Curtom Records, located at 5901 N. Lincoln? It's a dentist office now I think, just south of the IHOP.

Shortest books:

History of Popular Music in Chicago, Volume 2: The North Side

Jeez, I dunno. What's better, The Pusher or Basketball Jones. It's such a tough call.

Thin book worth reading...

About an hour ago I remembered a small time act out of NM for an old thread you posted in...something about obscure/good local acts outside Chicago or something.

May I introduce the Strawberry Zots. http://wilfullyobscure.blogspot.com/2009/09/strawberry-zots-cars-flowers-telephones.html. Psychedelic stuff. Their live shows were pretty cool. A buddy did a lot of their art and light shows when they toured.
The art is worth a gander if you are bored. Reminds me a lot of some of the posters JORR put out in his hey day. This was a few years later...88- 92? https://www.google.com/search?q=strawberry+zots&safe=off&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS775US776&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=6YQhfuT4VBl5GM%253A%252C_y-I10iFqhuUZM%252C_&usg=AFrqEzdH4N7tX9HZULISePpkg1dcftg4ZQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjus8O-r97cAhVPmK0KHSJMBXIQ9QEwFXoECAMQCg#imgrc=q3LzaDjW6vOLPM:

Their is a Youtube or two of some random shows before they honed their Psychedelic shows. That started about 89 I think.
