Depends on the rules. Going by today's rules, you would need some shooters because the best defense in history isn't gonna completely shut down GS.

I'd probably have Nash and Dirk or Bird in my 5 for that reason.

Then throw in Pip, MJ, and Hakeem for the D.

You can beat Golden State without shooting 3's.

You could with 90s rules, but I don't think you could with today's rules.

Yeah i wonder what type of team will ultimately be the team that beats them. We will never see that style of ball again. Looked up the 85 Lakers stats and saw that as a team they only avg 3 three point shots per game. Now you have at least 4 to 5 guys avg that individually per game.

I wonder if it is going to be a team that attempts to out G.S. them or will it be a team that presents a contrast in style. I don't think you can beat them trying to play their way.

Sure you could. Cleveland did it three seasons ago, almost did it four seasons ago, as did Houston last year and if not for Kawhi getting cheap shotted two years ago. Golden State is as susceptible to to sound defense as any other great teams.

All those teams shot threes though.

Although, ironically, Houston did miss 27 of them in a row in an otherwise close Game 7 against GS without their 2nd best player.

GS is by far the luckiest championship winning team that i have witnessed in my lifetime. Not even close.

There's no doubt no one can beat them at their own game. They have the 3 best shooters in the league.

I just think a team at least has to attempt a decent number of threes to beat them, but they have to do everything else great too.

How precisely are they lucky, let alone the luckiest?

They have won a number of series over the past 4 seasons in which the team they beat was missing its best or 2nd best player.

Paul/Cousins this season
Leonard last year.

Paul and Griffth in one or two other years.

Conley missed a series that was winnable.

Irving and Love out that first year.

I know i'm forgetting some other guys as well.

Every year they have caught breaks because of injury. They probably missed out on Boston with Hayward and Irving this year too.

Their road was made easier because of injuries to star players on other teams.

1. Not true.

2. They were sweeps of 5 game series. So not like one pitcher is going to change the results.

1. It's absolutely true. Schilling, Colon (Cy Young), Clemens

2. Are you kidding me? You're saying one pitcher cant change a 5 game series? And there was only one 5 game series

Everything you wrote is wrong.

We saw Clemens. He faked an injury because he was getting shelled. We didn’t miss him.

Yep.

Teams that take care of business quickly have an advantage over teams that have to go the distance to win a series.
