Uh, yeah...that's the downside of "playoff veterans"- they're old. And when you have a team of young studs, sure they're going to make some bad decisions, but they're also going to run circles around people like Cassell

Mbenga (who?) had a nice second quarter. Lotta energy.

Lakers vs. Jazz is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

That Denver situation is atrocious. Carmelo was a non-factor and this series pretty much summed up my feelings about him as a player. They need to blow that thing up and start over.

Beat a team that was in full meltdown mode with two guards who play little to no defense?

If Kobe can't beat KDdidit Martin on the perimeter then he sucks. I may be wrong, but isn't KDdidit Martin a PF/C?

Yes but hes the best on the ball defender on the team and a very decent defender overall. He's pretty versatile on who he guards, similar to Shane Battier.

It's a problem when your best on the ball defender on the team is a PF or C. Call me old school, but I like it when a team has a guard on the roster who can guard somebody. You don't need everyone to do it, but one would be nice.

I don't know what my point is. It's clear that the Nuggets are a broken team in a lot of ways.

 You sound like how I imagine George Karl's mind to sound in the middle of a game. I dont disagree with you on any of your points, Ive been saying for over a month that I could not envision a scenario in which Denver wins a first round series, I was just pointing out that he is their best on the ball defender. But yeah Kobe did have the "Are you seriously guarding me 1 on 1 with KDdidit Martin" look on his face the whole time.

I used to be a Kobe hater but since the "I wanna get traded" flap last offseason, he has done everything right. He's just shutting up and playing ball, which is what I expect a leader to do. I have nothing but respect for him now. Any Kobe hatred I had is now directed towards Mr. James in Cleveland.

Im a big fan of Kobe but Rick is right in this case. Denver should have been swept or beaten in 5 games at most. It was pretty clear to anyone following the NBA this year that this series was not going to be close. Its equally obvious that Denver had by far the worst perimeter defense in the NBA(You think the Bulls were bad in this category?). Ill be interested to see them against Utah, not only a much better team but a team that is much better at help defense. That will be a good series. Like you said, all Kobe and the Lakers did was dominate a series they were supposed to dominate. The next few weeks will be interesting.

I know Kobe will never suck. He's a top 30 all time player.

I said that if he couldn't score on KDdidit Martin, a PF/C, who is a decent defender but doing something that he shouldn't be asked to do for a team with no guard that can play defense then he does suck.

It would be the equivalent of applauding the performance of Shaq if he was being guarded by Bruce Bowen. Bruce Bowen may be a good defender, but he has no business being asked to guard him and Shaq should tear him up.

The Nuggets were in complete meltdown mode and just happy to get the moral victory of keeping game 4 close. I'll give Kobe his due later in the playoffs, but sweeping the mighty Nuggets is not going to get it from me.

It looked to me that everyone in the Nuggets organization were glad to be put out of their misery after the "moral victory" of keeping it close before getting swept.

That was some of the worst shot selection I've ever seen, but they hit a couple of them so it worked out alright. That team needs a major overhaul.

I totally misread that as I assumed Nas was talking about Joe Johnson....I mean after all, it is the Hawks playoff thread

Thoughts on Game 5? I think Boston comes out and crushes Atlanta with the Boston crowd behind them. No way Bibby goes off in that game like he did in the first half last night. Clearly Doc needs to realize that Ray Allen is not stopping Joe Johnson 1 on 1 and needs to adjust accordingly. Also KG has been a pretty big dissappointment the past two games. Troubling signs for those of us who have the C's rolling through the East and winning the Finals.

I think if Boston doesnt crush Atlanta early in game 6, they could definitely lose that game too now that the great people of Atlanta realized they have a basketball team.

I think if the Hawks weather the inevitable blitz Boston is going to throw at them to start the game, they could take it. They have to not let it slip away before halftime and be down more than 10 or 15. If they're close when the 4th quarter starts, I really like their chances

Obviously those are some pretty big if's

And like you say, it will be interesting to see how Doc adjusts in regard to Joe Johnson. I think you have to put Pierce or Posey on him. I thought Mike Woodson was a pretty bad coach but Doc has surprised even me in this series.

Boston is going to win tonight, and they will cover the 14 points.
