not sure he is even worth a seventh in comparison to where other more accomplished players were valued

I also believe he is a FA at the end of the year

1 Roquan Smith - B-, luxury pick but he seems like he at least wasn't overdrafted. Pace seems desperate to draft someone in the top 10 (he does it every year if you haven't noticed) who actually plays

2 James Daniels - A+, stud

2 Anthony Miller - A+, STUD

4 JOEL IYIEGBUNIWE - F, the reason its in all CAPS is because a copy-pasted it. I am never going to learn how to spell his guys name and I dont think that'll be a problem. He will never do anything in a Bears uniform more notable than be drafted.

5 Bilal Nichols - B+, take it away Mike Mayock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUYnJ9QaEGs

6 Kylie Fitts - D+, no better than IYIEGBUNIWE but drafted in a more appropriate position. we will be forgetting about him shortly

7 --ill update this once the PICK IS IN--

this guy really loves trading away picks and wasting picks on "hipster" players.

really odd dude. though picking (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was brilliant in the grand scheme of things as he bullied his way to an extension. now he gets 3-4 more additional drafts to fail spectacularly at.

aside from the 4th rounder and the pornstar this is his least hipster draft so far.

He didnt even take anybody criminally undersized for the position!

Pace is getting a solid B+ from me overall. I have not liked any of the day 3 picks, but really like all the days 1 and 2 picks.

I wouldn't call Smith a luxury because it fills a big need. Kwiatowski and Treviathan cannot stay healthy and for the last 2 years the Bears have been bringing in players off the street to start at ILB because those 2 and Freeman could not stay on the field. Is Smith a little smaller than the ideal ILB? Yes, but the league is focusing more on speed and coverage ability because more teams are using 3+ WR formations almost the whole game. Smith is an everydown LB, which Kwiatowski is not. Did I want a rush-end? Yes, I did but most of them are projects and I'm tired of the project route by Pace (Floyd, White, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky); give me a goddamn football player who starts on day 1.

Some copypasta from the other thread:

  • Smith - Day 1 starter at LB: A
  • Daniels - Day 1 starter at G/C: A-
  • Miller - Eventual starter/Quality depth at WR: A
  • Iyiegbuniwe - Quality ST specialist & Fangio multitool LB/S hybrid: C+
  • Nichols - Goldman understudy: B-
  • Fitts - Rotational EDGE with high upside if healthy: C-

Overall: B+ draft

6ft ILB, C he's shoehorning at guard, slot WR, 6ft ILB special teams filler, tiny school DT, and harvy unga OLB is a contrarian draft in my view

the slot WR better not suck since he's already punted 2019's draft.

Wims gets a B+ from me. Good potential there, probably the best player they took in day 3.

Hasn't been playing football long, either. Doesn't have 10+ years of beatings to his body to follow him to the next level.

Smith is the same size as Trevathan. I think he'll probably be a little worse than Trevathan over his career, which is fine.

The C will play C after Nagy shoo's the idiot boy Pace away from him. Nagy probably had to call Daniels after he picked him (and I'm fairly certain it was Nagy who made the 2nd round picks as they were too important to leave to Pace) and tell him the moron head-scout-masquerading-as-general-manager gayboi was just blabbering in front of the media and that Daniels was indeed going to play center.

lol the slot WR is Antonio Brown reincarnate.

the 4th rounder was a waste. what can you do, Pace got out of his cage.

The DT is good

the LB probably wont survive a day

the Georgia WR might be good at doing some things.

Pace gets an F for saying he would "cross train" an NFL player. This is not fucking Jiffy Lube where you have a guy work the register and vacuum floors.

Up until this draft I give Pace a D.. He gets a B minus this draft.

Agreed. He just looks like a good football player.

I like him, Smith, and Miller. Not sure on the other picks. Daniels seems overloved by a big margin.

I'm pretty close to your assessment of Pace over-all. He's missed over-all with his number one picks. Done decent, not great with his free agent people. Right now, he'd better hope that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky turns out great and that Smith delivers enough to justify being a high number one pick, neither of which are guarantees.

Going into this draft, I rated Pace as a C-/D+ general manager. A lot of which is due to his failures at assembling a good coaching staff other than Fangio and I am not sure if he made that decision or if Fox did. For the record, I wanted Fox and that midget OC fired before last season and Fangio given the job as an interim guy.

This is looking like the second year in a row and three out of four years that Ryan Pace first and second round picks are not starters on Day 1. This despite picking in the top 10 each year.

That is abysmal. I don't care that he has found starters in each of those drafts after round 3. Those first two picks MUST be the backbone of your team.

What does Pace have to do with a contract holdout? He can't make the guy sign nor can he make The McClaskey Family TM accede to this kid's agent's demands.

excuses

He didn't have anything to do with White getting injured either. Maybe it is just bad luck but then, why do we want a guy with bad luck.

Anyway, Daniels, promised as a sure fire starter and worthy of first round consideration at the time of drafting, does not look like he will be a Day 1 starter on a middling OL. Instead Eric Kush will be holding the position.

Are you joking or high? I don't recall there being a pre-draft press release from the kid's camp saying "I must have this, that, and the other thing, or else....".

If Smith is the guy on his side capable of making his agents cave a little then Pace can serve the same function to get (((Ted Phillips))) to back off a little. He didn't draft the guy to have him sit. Nagy has already taken a position on this in the media. If Pace really can't use his position to get this thing resolved just fire him and put Nagy in charge.

No, my response is that when the GM drafts in the top ten for four years and cannot produce a starter on Day 1 out of the first two rounds for three out of those four years, that person can no longer make an excuse or claim bad luck.

They were not in "win now" mode the past 2 years. Allowing a guy to gradually develop made sense.
