Have not watched enough TV coverage to say good or bad on JD.

Coomer has grown on me as an color commentator. I think he's pretty good. At the same time, I'm progressively finding Pat Hughes to be an arrogant jagoff.

PBP for Coomer.....different story. PBP or any of the pre and post game by ZZ....that is an automatic PTFB.

Im heading that way on Hughes myself.

Arrogant? Really?

Ill have to listen for that because it seems very odd.

Did he happen to espouse a left leaning or inclusive opinion that you guys didn't care for?
??? No . I listen a lot in the car lately and I’m not thinking he’s as great as I used to. That and his terrrible last out WS call . Left leaning or inclusive ? No he’s smart enough to understand that no one wants to hear that shit and keeps his opinions to himself far as I’ve heard .

I hear arrogant used a lot by people when describing someone with politics they dont agree with.

Not as good is one thing. Arrogant jagoff had me scratching my head because he doesnt ever seem arrogant to me.

Deshaies can't carry Vince Lloyd or Lou Boudreau's jock, but, that being said, I don't mind him. The annoying part is how he and Ron Coomer are always introduced as former
"greats" of the game. Deshaies was a middle of the rode journeyman at best, the fact he threw lefty likely kept him around. Coomer and his 1 all star appearance get mentioned
every other sentence  Jesus, Steve Swisher made an all star team in 1976, Coomer was likely just filling out a position, or the only clown from the Twins who was acceptable.

Man Sarge I couldn't disagree more. Now granted I was just a pup when they were broadcasting but I remember Boudreau in particular being brutal to listen to and Lloyd not much better. JD blows the doors off those guys.

OK, I guess my thoughts on Vince and Lou, just bring me back to simpler times when I was a kid, just hearing their voices on youtube is like going back in a time machine, driving around in a car with my dad as a youth, on a hot Summer day, and listening to Cubs on radio......anyway, the only "WAR" stats Vince and Lou talked about was WWI and WWII. I still remember Lou Boudreau pronouncing Mike Schmidt as Mike "Smitt".

I like Deshaies. He's gotta a dry wit and has some funny jokes every now and then. Has a very calm way of talking. He's aware of the metrics more so then most guys his age.

Much better then Stone. Why Stone gets licked by Chicago media is beyond me. He's never been good.

Stone has never been likable. But in his prime, he was an excellent first-guesser on game strategy during broadcasts.

He's a perpetual jagoff on radio appearances, however. And he's probably a pig bottom.

I'm not a Cubs fan so I don't really listen to his call of the game, but I have long felt the same way. In about May or June of 2016 he was on the midday show on the Score and told Siegel and whoeverelse was hosting that the Cubs had no weaknesses. The hosts called him on it, and rather than laughing and admitting that it was a fairly crazy thing to say, he got really serious and seemed pissed off that they would even question the statement. In his defense, that team obviously did go on to win the World Series, but you generally don't hear team broadcasters talking like that.

It's 2 things (for me).
1) Whoever had him on in the offseason where they interviewed him on his vocal chord surgery.....likely just me but he just seemed overly full of himself
2) His vowel exaggeration on COHNterras is a bit. I did catch one broadcast where he slipped and pronounced like every other normal person in the world.
3) Even though it's been discredited...the theory of Grote being forced out by Pat just scarred me.

I know it's not rational or logical....his PBP persona just grates on me...I've grown to dislike very much. I'm sure he's a fine person.....though. In his defense, he'll always get credit for having to work all those years with Santo. woof.
