Just saw one of the stupidest things ever in a major league game. Cardinals at bat with a runner on first and 2 outs. Rockies pitcher strikes out Cardinal batter but it is a drop third strike right in front of the catcher. The batter takes off for 1st and the runner at 1st takes off for 2nd. Instead of just throwing the ball to first for the easy third out of the inning the catcher flings the ball to 2nd base and there is no one even close to the base and the ball goes into center field. The Cardinals could not make the pay for such a stupid error...but still one the dumbest plays I have ever seen.

That is probably reflexive or he forgot how many outs.

If there were 0 or 1 out, the drop third wouldn't be in play.

Wade Davis gives up another walkoff 3-run homer in Milwaukee

Hard to figure how he's struggling this year.

Merlot Joe pretty much made sure he would have no arm left this year. Notice how differently they are treating Morrow who is under contract beyond this season from him and Chapman.

Harper got hit in the knee by a BB and had to leave the game. Joey Votto’s next AB Ryan Madison smoked him in the thigh and he was PISSED and I agree with him. No way they went after Harper with a BB.

Dodgers say SS Corey Seager will have arthroscopic surgery on left hip tomorrow. Already recovering from Tommy John surgery. Supposed to be ready for spring training.

Felix Hernandez removed from the Mariners rotation and will work from the bullpen, at least for the time being.

Haven't followed. Is his arm dying on him after all this time?

He's struggled this season and the Mariners are trying to catch Oakland for the 2nd WC position.

Kenley Jansen To Miss Time Due To Irregular Heartbeat
By Mark Polishuk | August 10, 2018 at 9:54am CDT

9:54AM: Jansen is expected to be sidelined for around one month, ESPN’s Buster Olney reports (Twitter link).

1:11AM: Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen was hospitalized on Thursday due to an irregular heartbeat, manager Dave Roberts told reporters (including Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times and MLB.com’s Anne Rogers) after last night’s game against the Rockies. The issue arose prior to the game, and Jansen has already been released and traveled from Denver to Los Angeles, where he will undergo more tests later today. At a minimum, Jansen will miss the rest of this weekend’s series, Roberts said.

This isn’t the first time that Jansen has dealt with an irregular heartbeat during his career, as the issue arose during both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The right-hander missed around a month of action in both instances, and underwent heart surgery following the 2012 season in an attempt to fully solve the problem.

Jansen hadn’t had any further heart situations until last night, Dodgers GM Farhan Zaidi told reporters. Denver’s high altitude may well have played a factor, as Jansen’s irregular heartbeat episode in 2012 also took place during a Dodgers visit to Coors Field.

Even the Sox beat him this year....

He was dominate for the first few innings of that game then his stuff fell off a cliff. Hopefully he can continue his career as a closer but we'll have to see how his arm reacts to back to backs. It's too bad. Great pitcher.

Ramón Laureano made one of the most incredible throws i’ve ever seen. Caught the ball in LC and from the warning track threw it to 1B in the air to beat the runner back to first. Incredible arm strength.

The throw was 321 feet right on the money. Amazing

Khris Davis is standing in LF saying fuck my life. He would need at least 2 cutoff guys to throw a ball that far.

Kohl Sterwart is making his debut today. He was the 4th overall pick in ‘13. I saw him that next year at Kane County. Dude had 3 plus pitches. He was nasty and had ace written all over him then the injuries set in. He got his career back on track but he’s not the same guy.

Clean 1st for the Toukster and he snapped off a couple beauties. That 2-2 hammer to Realmuto was strike 3. I don't like that he goes from the stretch. Hopefully he works on a windup this off season.

He's thru 5 up 2-1. He's keeping the ball down and getting quick outs. He might earn himself another start.
