Someone mentioned yesterday that it'd be cool if metv would show classic cartoons on Saturday. My nominee is scooby doo. But please none of that godawful scrappy doo ( he wasn't even a puppy ,he had a glandular condition!!)

SHARK No chance and I'll tell you why. For starters, Cartoon Network/Boomerang has the Warner Bros. catalog all to themselves. That includes Hanna-Barbera, Ruby-Spears & all those classic cartoons I grew up watching as a kid. Second, a lot of those cartoons don't meet the FCC's E/I requirements. Third, MeTV Network would need legit sponsors for these cartoons.

SHARK It's not happening. I don't work for MeTV, let alone Weigel Broadcasting which owns flagship WWME 23 in Chicago. They can lobby all they want. The topic of cartoons has come up on MeTV's own FB page. Cartoon Network/Boomerang not only have the excl…See More

Tom Doyle
Tom Doyle Yes, I wouldn't say never, Warners also owns Wonder woman, Batman, Gilligan's Island, F-Troop, and The Adventures of Superman, just to name a few, and some of these are still being shown, while others of these will definetly be coming back in the future, so you can never really say never.

SHARK Please read my comment. It's beyond my control. It's not just a contractual & ownership issue. There's also the whole E/I stuff with the FCC and the lack of sponsors. There's nothing I can do.

Tom Doyle I read it, and Thanks. Politicians caused this problem so the young folks couldn't have descent kid shows to watch, and politicians can fix this. I understand.

SHARK Factually speaking, MeTV does have contracts to air "F Troop", "Wonder Woman", "Gilligan's Island" & "Mama's Family", all Warner Bros. titles. Trust me. Those cartoons that everyone wants MeTV to add to the schedule just aren't possible. I hate to b…See More

If RPB wanted to really have fun, he'd respond in that thread and call him SHARK. He doesn't like that name anymore.

SHARK is a stone cold killer when someone questions him on something he is knowledgeable about.

I love how he rips their hearts out with the first few words every time....

I'll never forget the psychosis we inflicted on SHARK with the "Seacrest is a Barry Rozner mult" running gag, culminating in "the Ryan Seacrest-sounding Barry Rozner," our efforts to explain that our guy isn't really Rozner posting here and that the American Idol guy doesn't even enter the equation, and his insistence that no, he's listened to a lot of both, and can definitely hear the similarities. I think that was the day the board really folded in on itself.

Let me also add for the record that as a veteran of Online, people who are really into the history of animation are some of the most contemptuous, over-officious, hair-trigger monsters you could ever fever-dream of arguing with on the internet. You'd think cartoons would make them happy.

How many here already own some Hanna-Barbera classics on DVD? I have a fast DVD library of old TV shows I'd say about 75% of them have never been opened. Old shows like Stingray,Nighthawk,The Persuaders,Viper and Search. I have my own METV.

We have a ton of old Scooby Doo and the Laff-a-lympics for my kids. Have looked at some of the collections, and they've been meh...although I could be down for some Captain Caveman.

I'm a BigFan of the SHARK. Sometimes he comes on pretty strong but overall he was always there with strong info. Definitely missed on CFMB

He posts on BleedCubbieBlue a lot (user name starts with his initials) and I'm pretty sure he's on MLBTradeRumors during the season - some guy named Aaron whose posting cadence is highly similar.

I will occasionally throw in a shark reference when he's commenting to see if he's paying attention. On both sites he's a better poster than most of the garbage, which isn't that high of a bar to clear.
