Thought it may have just been an easter egg.

Not sure who it would be if he's supposed to matter.

I wasnt sure what to make of it. Was he supposed to look like Howard?

That'd be interesting.

Kim isn't around in Breaking Bad (at least we never see or hear about her). Maybe he followed Jimmy's career as Saul and was always waiting to get his revenge on him for whatever happened to her but was never able to do it. Then he finally finds Jimmy again as Gene. Would make an interesting final episode

I thought the eyes looked like an older Victor.

But, I'm going to guess that it isn't.

Victor’s dead anyway by that time. Gus carved his neck right in front of Walt and Jesse.

Some good stuff here on things in the first episode as well as some interesting thoughts on how the show might transform from a prequel to BB to a sequel to BB

My hope is that Gene will secretly run a drug empire out of the Omaha Cinnabon in the same way Gus was using Pollos Hermanos to maintain the veneer of legitimacy.

The rest of the episode was really good but Kim stole the show. That scene with Howard was outstanding.

One of the best scenes of the entire series.

From both of them.

Yep. Great theatre by both. I have seen those neck ligaments before. The controlled burn she pulled off was awesome.

Agreed.

That was great. Her indignation on Jimmy's behalf was rough, and then she called Howard out. Just solid.

The ups and downs of the Howard character and whether or not he's a terrible person have been great.

Fitting that the episode’s title is ‘Breathe’.

Nice Gale cameo.

Kim seemed more broken up by Chuck's letter than Jimmy was. Probably because Jimmy knows it was written years ago.

Also Kim was freaked by Mesa Verde expansion plans.

Victor and Tyrus disposed of ponytail and Nacho got shot a couple of times to help sell the lie.

out of all the recaps, i like AV Club's the best. their TV critics are pretty tuned up.

Quote:
So it’s all about who wants in and who doesn’t have a choice. Kim and Nacho are being dragged along by circumstances that are outpacing their ability to respond. Dr. Caldera is ineffectively trying to keep discipline in the face of increasing demands. Gale is an artist eager to rise in the estimation of his patron. And Jimmy? He just wants to seize the opportunities that the universe drops in his lap and not worry about the niceties. Every relationship on this show is laced with rat poison.

I didn't really follow the story line of jimmy and the dude in the office building...can someone give me the cliff notes on it.

if you mean the guy sleeping in his office - jimmy was job hunting and interviewed at a copier sales company. during the interview in that office, he happened to notice a Hummel figurine that is worth a lot of money that these people largely ignore as a hand-me-down from relatives. he tried to hire Mike to steal it, but hes not interested in that shit anymore since hes got the new gig. so he hired some other guy to go in and get it.

hilarity ensues.

last night's episode was the first time this season that i didn't want the episode to end. the counseling scene with mike outing henry was my favorite scene so far.

his unraveling while listening to his daughter-in-law remorsefully talk about getting over his son's death in a way that makes the guy nearly disappear from her consciousness was just a great piece of acting. you knew he was going to take it out on the phony, because him experiencing real grief was being undermined completely.

Yeah when he groaned I was like hell yeah, this is gonna be great.

I like Jimmy's new advertisement for his cell phone store. It'll be interesting to see if Badger or Skinny Pete or someone comes through to buy a cell phone now.

I'm an Ep behind but love the constant use of blue imagery to signify the blue meth. Last week you had the body in the trunk loaded with blue ice packs. Also Jimmy's fish tank. Not to mention when Gus was walking in the college there was a couple bright blue back packs. Gale had blue plastic gloves on. Wondering how much is intentional and how much is coincidence, but leaning towards it all being intentional.

Yep, you knew an idle Jimmy was going to come up with something to bring in the business. Fun to watch that play out, and continue to play out over the next episodes.

Mike not even blinking at Gus attempting intimidation was awesome, too.
