free trialing is why i almost always reject free trials... DIRECTV used to be the worst... every time i called they tried to get me to free-trial showtime or some bullshit that would end up being a $15 a month waste.

is the atheltic like the tribune where tweeted links you can view without issue?

Yeah, last time direct tv was always calling about the free trials for premium stuff and were almost dumbfounded when I told them no, that I always would forget and canceling was never as easy as signing up. Maybe that was Sunday ticket that was the biggest pain to Csnvel. Way back when they’d just do free weekends seasonally on the premium channels. That must not of gotten them enough subscribes so they just count on people being forgetful now.

I have the Athletic. It’s kind of like my WSJ subscription in that I’m not great at keeping up with it on a daily basis but enjoy it enough and use it enough to not cancel.

That just happened to my wife with Amazon Prime. And while all else being equal I don't care, the impact will be out sized spending on that site to justify the mistake.
