Mike is still railing on Score management for losing the Hawks. Apparently someone there said it's not that big a deal because the radio rights lose value next year anyway with all the games being on TV. Mike doesn't understand because, "We still want da Sox games on radio here an' all dere games are on TV. I don' unnerstan' dat statement. I've never heard dat before. Why do we still want da Sox?"

OK, Mr. Radio Icon, it's like this. First, just for openers, baseball has way more fans than hockey. Plus, hockey games are played mostly on winter nights when fans are more likely to be home and will certainly pop on the TV instead of the radio if the games are on. Baseball radio has remained very viable in the TV age because it's played in the summertime, often on weekend afternoons, when people are going places, at the beach, doing yard work, barbecuing, etc. Fans are not as likely to be able to catch all 162 games in front of the TV.

I don't really care if his theory is right or wrong, I wish he'd get off the subject. Move on already!

Well, that too. This is inside-station business stuff that has no impact on the listeners. If you want to still listen to the Hawks, I'm sure you can find WGN on your dial. If you're not a Hawk fan, you're probably happy because you'll get more Buffone on the Bears or whatever else it is that they run on fall and winter nights. In the time I listened, this is ALL they talked about. Which is why my radio went off some time ago.

It's called sports-talk radio for a reason.
People tune in to hear discussions -- not play by play.

Mike is doing an old Talk Radio 101 routine. Stern made a career out of ripping on the management moves.
