Im not sure. I dont see Atlanta winning Game 7, but anything could happen. Boston was terrible down the stretch today. It better not be close in the last minutes on Sunday.

Looks like Utah is closing this thing out. Mcgrady cant buy a bucket in the second half.

Yes. Worse than Denver upsetting Seattle and worse than New York upsetting Miami. I really hope it doesn't happen though. If it does, we should just crown L.A. right now.

GS - Dallas can be part of conversation but factor in Celtics record against the West and West's dominance of the east. Biggest upset ever 'nuff said

I dont think so. I think San Antonio will beat L.A. if they both make it to the West finals. If I could redo my picks I would have the Spurs winning the title.

Lakers all the way. I think your Hornets may send them home. Chris Paul at least has an idea what defense is and won't be abused like Nash was. My amended prediction has the Lakers facing the Hornets in the WCF.

Im rooting for the Hornets, but they are a year away. For some reason I still cant figure out, everybody forgot how bad the Mavs were since the Kidd trade. I think their win and his triple double at the end of the season blinded people. They were a pretty bad team, for a West playoff team.

The Spurs will do a much better job containing Paul. Bowen is probably the best in the business at trapping PG's, and Parker is quick enough to cut Paul off on the dribble. If they can keep him out of the paint, which I think they can, I dont know if the Hornets have enough other weapons to beat them. The Hornets also dont have anybody to guard Manu. Thats gonna be a big problem.

The playoffs are Duncan's stage. He reminds everyone every spring that he is still one of the 3 or 4 best players in the league. I'll be rooting for the Spurs, but Im sticking with my original prediction of Spurs in 5.

I agree Byron Scott is a great coach, but Poppovich is the best in the league IMO. Also West better have his mid range jumper working, because I dont see him scoring on Duncan in the paint. As for keeping Paul out of the paint, I havent either, but we havent seen the Spurs play this well all year. They save it for the playoffs. They have consistently been the toughest out for the past decade. Everyone always picks against them and they just do their thing. I think a West Finals with them vs. the Lakers would be the most entertaining series of the playoffs.

Do you think the Spurs beat the Suns last series? I think in Game 1 and in Game 5 the Suns beat themselves. They did everything in their power to lose those games. I saw a lot of UNFORCED errors. The Spurs didn't do anything new. The hack-a-Shaq strategy is old and everyone knows Steve Nash has never played defense in his life.

Hornets in 6.

This seems like a "Hindsight is always 20/20" moment, considering Im the only one in our prediction thread who thought the Spurs would win. I figured Parker would eat up Nash. I thought the series would be closer then it was, but yes I do think the Spurs beat them and I think they beat them convincingly. Pau and Odom look good against Denver, but San Antonio is a different animal. Everybody hates facing these guys in May and June. I dont think the Hornets will know what hit them. Chris Paul isnt going to be allowed to run wherever he wants like he did against a soft Dallas team. He's going to be knocked on his ass - alot. It'll be a good introduction to how playoff basketball is played in the NBA.

When you win 4 titles in 9 years you generally dont want to.

I guess its just a matter of perspective. I thought Game 1 was a classic come from behind win by the latest NBA dynasty. I think every year other teams seem more talented, but no other team plays as hard defensively, moves the ball better, or is better coached. Those three things done consistently will give you a chance to beat anyone in the league. Throw in the best PF of all time still in his prime, albeit the end of it, and 2 all star guards, and I dont see them losing. Paul will have to better than his 24-12 last series to pull it off. He may have it in him, but I dont know.

Heres another nugget that may explain our different perspectives. If I had to win a 7 game series right now, and could take anyone in the league, Im taking Duncan. Im assuming you're taking Kobe.

Yeah. This game was never in doubt after the 3rd quarter.

Byron Scott is a great coach. He doesn't get enough credit. People forget he took the Nets to 2 finals earlier this decade.

Chris Paul is great. I've never seen a point guard take it to the hole with such strength and balance the way he does. It's amazing.

East is tougher to figure out. Boston is struggling. Pistons lose interest sometimes. Cavs struggled against Washington. Orlando had the best first round but get killed tonight.

There really is no strong team in the East.

I'm gonna go with the best player and say the Cavs make back to back Finals. They will be swept, like last year, by the Western team they face.

I was surprised to come to this section and not see on post from FF. I thought the Magic matched up well with the Pistons but they got their ass handed to them in the 2nd half.

Was out at a bar all night. I agree with you Nas fantastic win for the Hornets. That is absolutely the worst game I have ever seen Tim Duncan play. I dont expect it to happen again, and I expect Pops to make some very necessary adjustments. David West embarrassed Oberto all night. I know they were falling in the first half, but the Spurs cant shoot 31 threes and expect to win. Parker and Ginobli need to get in the paint and make things happen, and Duncan definitely needs to start acting like the best PF ever. That was downright embarrassing last night. He better come back with a 20-20 game next game. I really like what Scott did bringing Melvin Ely in instead of Armstrong to double team Duncan. That was very effective. I also laughed at Chuck's "Who the hell is Melvin Ely, thats a damn shame me and Patrick dont have a ring, and this fool Melvin Ely has a ring" comments.

I wanna see Howard become more aggressive. Turkoglu is definitely the most assertive player on that team, and Howard needs to be. He needs to dictate the pace. I like Rasheed on Turk. Chauncey did what I thought he would do in the 2nd half, nobody can guard him on that team. The Magic need to get more easy buckets in transition like the 76ers did if they want to fare better then last year.

Bagels, I agree on the Game 7. Anythings possible. It better not be within single digits late in the 4th or Boston will be in trouble. I had an argument for like an hour last night with some guy who thought it was absurd that I thought Duncan was better than KG and he said its bullshit that KG doesnt take over games in clutch situations. I dont think he watches alot of basketball.

why were you at a bar in Bristol CT??

That is actually a pretty good debate, KG definitely plays more facing the basket with better outside shooting ability but they have very similar skills sets. Duncan is proven clutch know one can debate that.

I think its silly that someone would say KG is better, or has been better throughout their careers. Their numbers are comparible, as are their skill sets, but Duncan always rises up when the stakes are high, and KG, except for a memorable Game 7 against the Kings, always passes the responsiblity to someone else. Game 1 against Phoenix is a prime example of their differences.

Favre I don't want to relive your debate from last night but who does KG pass the responsibility to? his cast of characters in his T'Wolves career was absolutely terrible. Well maybe he passed the responsibility on to Stephon Marbury, now that guy steps up when it counts!

Everyone. When his Wolves teams were just good enough to get in the playoffs but not good enough to advance, he passed it to Wally World or another shooter when the game was on the line. When Cassell and Spree came in, and they had the #1 seed, they took most of the clutch shots that year.

Now that he has talent around him, he is once again relying on Pierce, Allen, and even Rondo at times to make a play in the 4th. Horford is playing great against him and I dont think he wants any part of him in a close game. He wants to put up great numbers, keep his team in the game with his great all around play, and hope its a blowout in the 4th or Allen or Pierce will come through if they need a basket.

Are the Boston Celtics the Utah Jazz of the playoffs? Four blowouts at home, and 0-3 on the road.

Rondo just got knocked the fuck out by Marvin Williams. Interesting.

I know its a 34 point blowout, but why is Zaza full court pressing. He's a center. Is Mike Woodson awake? Is he even alive?

Celtics finally doing what they should of done days ago. They better learn to win a road playoff game, because against a better team, they probably won't win every home game.

well not necessarily, if they have home court to the Finals, they can go 4-3 the rest of the way and that might happen. No offense but they get a lot of home cooking in that garden, I hate the Celtics.

They arent winning four games at home against Detroit. Im with schmitty, that needs to change. Quite simply, the Celtics did what they needed to do today. They needed to win by 30 to show that this 7 game series was a fluke. Im still not sold on them even making it out of the East. It'll be interesting.

You are joking right, you think they can't win 4 in the Boston Home Cooking Garden you are crazy. Gnarls Barkely CRAZY!!!!

I hate both the teams, don't care but I would be very suprised to see Detroit be able to win one in that environment.

Detroit is second only to San Antonio in terms of playoff toughness, experience, and success in the past 5 years. If thats the series, I fully expect Detroit to win one of the first two games, and wouldnt be surprised if they won a Game 5 or 7 at The Garden.
