I am not afraid of the Vikings except for Theilen/Diggs.

Bears have two winnable games the next two weeks. Vikings have a lay-up against the Bills but Packers @Redskins could be a loss.

Could be a three way tie in the win column this time next week.

I meant Seahawks/Cardinals.

We'll reevaluate their chances against the Bucs after we see if they can bounce back after Week 1. I think they are in danger of a death spiral.

Tom Brady can't do shit vs the Jags. I think the Patriots strategy of stocking piling Caucasian wide receivers from the IVY league lacrosse teams is finally catching up to them.

Tampa's offensive line and receiving corps could make any half-way decent NFL QB look good. Fitzpatrick had 2 75 yard TD throws today. Well, 30-40 yard throws followed by catch-and-runs for TDs. But to have the time in the pocket for the receivers to work their way beyond the defense depends on the offensive line.

I'd start Winston against either the Bears right before their bye or the Browns 2 weeks after the bye. Fitzpatrick's 35 and fragile. Unlikely he's able to stay on the field for an entire 16 game season. Not exposing Fitzpatrick to Mack or Myles Garrett might be a good idea. If nothing else, they can showcase Winston for a possible trade.

Koetter came into the season on probably the hottest seat in the NFL. They came closer than people think to just firing him this off-season. He will put his best chance to win out there every week. He doesn't give a shit about the 2019 draft or what they can do to showcase Winston for a trade.

He is going to ride Fitzpatrick until he either gets hurt/becomes ineffective. If Koetter wins 10 games the Bucs wont be able to fire him, so he is going to sell out 100% to do just that. They sure look like the best team in the NFC South in the early going.

There has to be a higher percentage of NFL players with a mental illness than the general public.

I think it was 2015 where everyone was ringing out alarm bells that the NFL had a kicking crisis, then it sort of passed. This feels even worse than that though.

Both Zane Gonzalez and Daniel Carlson were drafted, which I think (counter intuitively) is a worse way than UDFA's of finding a good starter. The truth is you really dont know what you have at that position until you see it in-game and in practice every single day. Its one of the few positions where I think preseason matters. By drafting these guys, particularly in high rounds like Aguayo and Alex Henery, you basically guarantee them a roster spot. The expectation when drafting specialists is that they are a cut above and should be guaranteed a roster spot, at least for their rookie year. Kai Forbath really didn't stand a chance in Minnesota because the Vikings were not going to just cut their 5th round pick, but if they had Kai Forbath they win that game.

Nugent, Janikowski, Kaeding and Gostkowski were all drafted highly and have panned out pretty well (Kaeding eventually just fell apart but was good until then) but even from that era Bill Gramatica, Travis Doersch, Jeff Chandler...all K's drafted in the middle rounds that have fallen flat on their face.

People have jumped on Gruden a little too aggressively. I dont think the Mack move was his decision and that he is falling on that grenade on behalf of management.

Other than that the Bryant trade is proving to be OK and his cut-day release clearly a non-issue and the McCarron acquisition was really a necessity. Connor Cook wound up landing on the Panthers practice squad, just shows you what the league thinks of him. Raiders have a lot of draft picks and some cap flexibilty going forward. They are solid at a lot of offensive positions and have a QB. They are going to have a rough year or two here with some ups-and-downs but I dont think they are necessarily headed in a bad direction.

The Raiders will give Gruden at least through the first season or two in Vegas; which is likely 2020, tho they could move next year and play at another stadium until the new stadium is ready in 2020. So paying Mack all that money during a 3 or 4 season rebuild period didn't make a lot of sense. If anything, Raiders should tank next year and try to draft Tua Tagovailoa or Jake Fromm, or some other top QB coming out of college.
