Chet's post in the Bears thread got me thinking we could use a new CFMB created list. Seems easier to break it up into tiers.

Tier 1

1. Tom Brady
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Drew Brees

Tier 2

4. Russell Wilson
5. Phillip Rivers
6. Cam Newton
7. Ben Roethlisberger

Tier 3

8. Carson Wentz
9. Alex Smith
10. Patrick Mahomes
11. Matt Ryan
12. Kirk Cousins
13. Matt Stafford
14. Andrew Luck

Tier 4

15. Jimmy Garoppolo
16. Case Keenum
17. Tyrod Taylor
18. Deshaun Watson
19. Derek Carr
20. Jared Goff
21. Andy Dalton

Tier 5

22. Ryan Fitzpatrick/Winston
23. Dak Prescott
24. Marcus Mariota
25. Joe Flacco
26. Eli Manning
27. Blake Bortles

Tier 6

28. Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky
29. Ryan Tannehill
30. Sam Darnold
31. Josh Allen

Tier 7

32. Sam Bradford

Did this off the top of my head in 5-10 minutes so I'm sure it's not entirely representative of where each QB ranks, but it's close. I would have no issues with anyone moving the 4-13th QBs around in whatever order they see fit. Tier 1 and Tier 7 are the only ones Im confident I nailed 100%.

Brady is in tier 1 by himself. No knock on anyone else. You fell in love with some guys too much.

I found the 4-14 spots the hardest to specifically order. Impossible to know with any certainty where guys like Wentz, Mahomes, Luck, etc should be. I’m sure the list would look quite different at the end of the season.

Think you underrated Carr and Goff.

I don't like Carr and don't think he's very good. Maybe underrated him by a couple spots.

I think there's a good argument I underrated Goff. I'm just of the opinion it's largely McVay's system and the talent around him. McVay was literally telling him what passes to throw and how routes are going to develop when he was at the LOS pre-snap last year. I'm guessing that hasn't changed.

Wilson is tier 1. He's the worst QB of tier 1, but tier 1 he is.

He has the big plays, the stats and the ring. Everything about Wilson screams tier 1 .To be fair so does Big Ben, but the decline for Big Ben has seemingly arrived and I'm not even sure he's top 10 any longer.

I dont see any difference between tier 5 and 6. Show me what makes Dak Prescott better than Ryan Tannehill? Maybe if you go back to Dak's rookie year but that OL + Zeke made his job so braindead easy that anyone could've succeeded with it.

I put Ben 7th out of respect. He's been god awful on the road for like 5 years now.

I won't disagree with you about Wilson.

I think the tier 5 guys are slightly better than the tier 6 group.

Dak is by no means good but I'm comfortable taking him over Tannehill as of right now. Scott Linehan and that WR group isn't doing him any favors currently.

Eli at 27th sounds accurate and it's pretty funny that he will be in the same hall of fame as Brady and Brees and he is younger than both and so much worse.

Jameis is a pud with garbage around him...but they're playing well with Fitzpatrick, so I'm sure Koetter will go back to Winston at the end of his suspension. But who cares, because fuck Tampa.

Cousins hasn't done a damn thing to be worth what Minnesota is paying him, but as a Bears fan, I'm perfectly fine with that. Also, the fucker thinks Creed is the greatest band in existence...so, he has some judgement issues.

Bart Starr would easily be Tier 1.

I can't believe that Starr debate took place 10-11 years ago now.

I would put Carr, Keenum and Dalton (Keenum just clinging) at the end of tier 3 then from there its just a blob of mild variety mediocrity.

Call it the garbage tier. Jimmy G sucks, Tyrod Taylor cant throw, from what I have seen the worst QB in the NFL so far this year has been Deshaun Watson (save Bradford), Goff is the weak link of STL and will be their downfall, Prescott is a non-factor, Flacco/Manning are just over-the-hill, Jacksonville and Chicago win in spite of Bortles/(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, Darnold/Allen are going through their lumps, Mariota is lol..I could go on but to me nobody after that top 17 (which is the same as your top 17 except Carr and Dalton taking the spots of Garappolo and Tyrod) is distinguishable from anyone else except perhaps Bradford being a clear step below. Peterman would have been with him. Fitzpatrick is close to graduating though, couple more weeks of this and he'll have to be respected. I dont know how you really separate any of these guys except by going who has done the least bad things most recently, and that is so subject to change going forward that ranking them specifically is a fool's errand.

Anyone who has watched Watson as closely as they have watched (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, which I believe is absolutely nobody on this board since the Bears are by far this board's most popular team and have played two primetime games, would not be able to rank Watson ahead of Mitch. He has been so bad. Genuinely dreadful. Everyone making a fuss about (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's arm strength because of one throw...take a look at Watson. With a running start he cant throw more than 40 yards. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky no question is running the Bears offense better than Watson and making way better decisions. Stats for both are really deceptive.

Yea watson has the worst OL in the NFL, maybe the worst OL of the last 10 years, but he also has two of the best WR in the game that bail him out routinely. Mitch has good weapons now too, but nobody like Hopkins. If you were to make these same rankings for WR Hopkins would be solidly tier 1 and Fuller solidly tier 2 while AR would be at the tail end of tier 2/head of tier 3.

So for those of you not reading the other thread, my question was essentially "is it considered an acceptable growth year for Mitch if he is a median-quality or just under median-quality quarterback." And I took the easiest ranking list I could find (Chris Simms, from his 14 week run on the LeBatard show after he stated that Bortles was the #70 QB in the NFL) and plopped in #14-24 (Mitch was 24), even though I disagreed with some of it.

One game, random playoff caliber team. Your choice at QB1 is Chase Daniel or Sam Bradford. Who do you pick?

I watched the NE/Houston game in it's entirety and watched a good portion of the Titans/Texans game. Watson hasn't been nearly as bad as you're suggesting. He's running for his life immediately after the snap similar to Wilson last night. He's played poorly(its a big reason I have him ranked 18th instead of higher), but outside of Hopkins he's been given no help whatsoever. Fuller missed Week 1 and while he had a good game against Tennessee there's not a chance in hell I'm taking him over Allen Robinson right now.

How good is my offensive line? If it's top 3 in the league I'll take Bradford. If it's anything other than absolutely elite I'll roll the dice with Daniel.
